I just don't have the patience I used to. I don't like games that piss me off to the point of screaming myself hoarse. I get so mad I lose interest. I'll just have to try games that are a little more relaxed from now on before I burst a vessel. Anyone else getting less tolerant of extremely difficult games?

Yup, I'm with you there, except I open up gameFAQs rather than screaming (unless GameFAQs can't help me). I also far prefer playing games on handheld systems.
I remember spending hours on games, often restarting from the beginning and trying again many times over, can't imagine doing that now for most games, but then with game saves and the fact many games now give unlimited tries, there is really no need any more, games are generally much more forgiving than they used to be.
I used to play the really hard stuff all the time. I got so good at games like Contra and Ninja Gaiden back in the day that I can beat them without breaking a sweat now. Anything hard that I'm not already familiar with just irritates the hell out of me and I give up. I guess I'm just getting too old for the stuff that requires nerves of steel. I'm only 30 and already I can't take hard games anymore. That's kind of depressing.

I rarely find games frustrating anymore. I think the difficulty has decreased dramatically since I was a kid (I'm 29). I have found a couple, though, and when i get to a frustrating point, I become obsessed with getting past them.
I have to admit I don't think I give as much dedication and effort as I used to, if I get completely stuck or find the difficulty too much, then chances are I wont replay it often if at all.
@Link79..... Im 27 and when you get pissed off with them just send them my way Not really cause I will already have it if its hardcore lol. Good thing is that most everything that is released in America is now pretty simple, its becoming pretty rare for us hardcore freaks to get a real challenge that isn't beat this time by perfecting a level or something of the likes. Thank God for Wayforeward and Contra 4. They are working on more DSiWare also can't wait. Ive actually been buying Gameboy/Color games lately for the challenge.

Mega Man 9 frustrated me beyond belief. I've never swore at a game so much in my life, but I finally beat it, after months of purchasing it. I bet that game, true I havn't 100% completed it. But I did the campaign, and thats an achievement in my book.
I still will play some hard games if it's a series I've always loved. When I heard Mega man 9 was coming out I bought it as soon as I could. It was pretty difficult at first but now it's a joke and I can blast through it easily. I just don't like certain games that have limited Lives or continues or that send you way back to the beginning if you die. That's very annoying. It's mostly only the older games that are like that. Newer stuff is very forgiving.
