Nope. Not going to do much to slow down the iPad.

It will ruin the Kindle Fire, though.

Why is that? I don't follow tablets that closely (or at all) but I would have thought that a $250 tablet (or $200 for the 8GB model) would put a serious dent in iPad sales, given the fact that Android's pretty good these days. Does the iPad do something clearly better?

Price won't be enough - the (cheap) Amazon Kindle Fire didn't make a mark on the iPad's market dominance, and Amazon's brand is just as powerful as Google's.

The fact is that Apple has over 70% (or is that 80, or even 90 per cent these days?) of the tablet market. Undercutting on price doesn't work - as just about every competitor has discovered. With the exception of Motorola, almost every tablet is cheaper than the iPad. People have clearly proven they're happy to pay a little more for Apple's products.

As for what it does better? The App ecosystem is substantially bigger, Apple developers are happier (less piracy), Apple's marketing is unparalleled and the new iPad retina screen blows literally everything else out of the water.

Something will come by and beat the iPad, that's guaranteed. That product won't be a cheaper, less powerful copy of the iPad, however.

To br fair he doesnt follow the tablrt market. But this isnt aimed at the 10 inch market. This is trying to be the big man on the 10 inch market.

Just hope this means more devs will make games for android side by sode with ios.

Yup, that's why I answered his question.

Problem #1: There's too many different form factors with Android. iOS is easy to develop for because there are two screen sizes to work with - iPhone, and iPad. Android has hundreds (if not more), and those devices all have different power specs, which makes it as irritating to develop on as a platform as PCs are.

Problem #2: No one buys Android games. They pirate them. While this is an exaggeration, this is exactly how app developers think. Their revenue is protected somewhat on iOS. It's a free-for-all on Android.

Until those two problems are resolved the Apple App store is going to remain the platform of choice for many of the developers, and Android will be an afterthought, if thought of at all.

Yeah I think google understands this and is trying to bolster purchases from the play store.

They announced app encryption which should cut back on piracy. Also the nexus 7 comes with $25 google store credit and the nexus devices on carriers usually come with google wallet credit as well.

So what did you guys think of google glass?
