For some of us, it was one of the very few times of the year where we'd get something new to play.

What are some of the most memorable games you received for Xmas?

Super Mario Kart on Super Nintendo springs to mind for me.

Hours of fun and the start of one of the great series of games.

Mario Kart 64 was quite the memorable one for me. I got it alongside my Nintendo 64 for Christmas when I was 5, and I liked racing around the courses and everything. It was my introduction to the Mario Kart series, as well. Luigi's Mansion and Super Smash Bros. Melee were great too, and likewise, me and my younger brother got them with our GameCube. We played the living daylights out of them both!

Favorite games: Super Mario 3D World, Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Playing: Super Mario Galaxy 2

Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I'd like to know you first. Thanks! ❤️

Nintendo Switch V1 purchase on 24 December 2017, bought for 5,400,000 IDR + Additional Joy Cons + etc = 7,200,000 IDR.
It was the most expensive video game machine I have ever bought.
For this Christmas, I want to get Nexomon + Nexomon Extinction PS4 and Potion Permit PS4.

Finally got some spare funds to get Splatoon 3 and Pokemon Violet for me and my daughter. Used Japan eShop NSO vouchers and its a good deal for both games. Merry Christmas ya'll!

Mario bros Wii:
It is in my top ten of all time due to memories alone

Donkey Kong Country Returns:
It started my love of the DK series.

Links Awakening Switch:
This was later in life than the others, but it is the reason that Legend Of Zelda is my favorite game series.

Currently playing: Pokemon Soul Silver, Mario RPG
Enos 1:15

Mario 64 and an N64. Was a belated birthday present and my mom made a scavenger hunt of smaller gifts before I got the IOU. Was on pins and needles from my bday until then. Played all day until I passed out on the floor. Also OoT the next christmas. I spent so much time just wandering in awe in both games. Thanks Mom!

I vividly remember getting Pokemon X, Sun, Ultra Moon and Brilliant Diamond for Christmas in their respective years of release (X especially got me so incredibly excited due to it being the first ever 3D mainline Pokemon game). However, I think the best moment was waking up and unwrapping my presents....only to find a Nintendo Switch with a copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sitting on top. Such a fantastic moment even now!

I had a few much when I was much younger but honestly the most memorable was the Wii in '06. Mostly because Wii Sports then went on to consume the rest of the day for everyone in a way nothing else has before or since

Arguably Nintendo Land captured a similar vibe but I picked that up on day 1. So it wasn't so much a Christmas game more of a game I then brought out for Christmas

Lovely idea for a thread. Some favourite memories over the years....Mega Bomberman (Megadrive), DKC2, Mystical Ninja (Snes), Gauntlet Legends 64. Casting it further back...I think the first Christmas game I got would have been Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers for the Nes. I was like 5 or 6, so wouldn't have known to ask for it. My Mum just made a very good choice I guess! Christmas games are special memories, and I still feel I have to have 1 (even if buy it for myself!).

And like Tendo - I agree - Christmas games are special as, for many, they were the only time you got a new one. Birthdays too.

This year my Girlfriend's buying me Splatoon 3, Ghost of Tsushima, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, and I know she's also picked up Fifa 10 on the PS3 for 50p from Cex as a bit of a jokey present.

Christmas 2008 (I think) I surprised the family with a DS and also got a game for each of us. Prof Layton for my wife, Phantom Hourglass for me (which I hated), Pokémon Diamond for my Son and Brain Training for my daughter.

When the N64 first came out, I walked to the nearby Blockbuster every day after school to play Mario 64 on their display cabinet (and sometimes Nights which they also had). It was the most amazing experience ever, that jump from 2D to 3D. Nothing will ever match it. When on Christmas morning I opened my own N64 and copy of Mario 64, it was the best day ever.

I got Zelda: A Link Between Worlds for Christmas, and I didn't actually play it much when I got it. A few years later, though, I picked it up again and it was great. Probably because it was easy and I suck at adventure games.

The most memorable for me has to be 1999 when I got my GC with Tetris, Super Mario Bros Deluxe and Pokemon Yellow.
