Do note that "overrated" simply means you think it gets too much credit. How much is too much is up to you, and it doesn't have to be a huge gap. You can still love games you consider "overrated". For example I love Undertale but I don't think it's worthy to be a GotY candidate.
Saying something is "overrated" is almost always a matter of opinion anyway.

Breath of the Wild is way overrated in my opinion. Now, I get why people like it. It has a huge open world which you can get lost in for dozens, if not hundreds, of hours. It's just that most of it wasn't very fun to me. The biggest problems I have are the weapon system and the lack of proper dungeons. The way the weapons break so easily and the fact you have to scavenge for more all the time really put a damper on the fun. It doesn't feel like a Zelda game to me at all and I sincerely hope they go back to the way things were with the next game. BotW currently stands as my second least favorite "official" Zelda game ever.
@Armbouncer There are a few users on this site that really dislike the game, so you're hardly alone. Zelda won't be going back to the old formula, though: Nintendo has pretty much said that, for the foreseeable future, new Zelda games are going to be "open air." That is, open world. With that said, it's very possible that Nintendo could include meatier dungeons and alter the durability system in future games.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)

I'm happy to hear that I'm not alone on this. Everyone around me thinks I'm crazy. That's what I love about the community on this website though. Respect for each other's opinions.
Does "overrated" exist at all? because you know the world don't spin around me.
There was a needlessly long whine by me at the start of the thread about why this thread even exists. I'm sure it has probably come up multiple times since also. Because when you say something is "overrated" you're making a point of saying something that a lot of people like isn't that great. Which when you think about it is a bit of a crappy thing to do.
With that said, and in the tone of this thread in general. I went into my Steam Library today because there are too many games I haven't finished. Loaded DmC and... immediately wished I was playing Bayonetta instead.

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions
Wait, I thought Fallout 4 was one of those games that everyone was really hyped for, but said hype immediately deflated when it turned out to be exactly the same as the last two Fallout games, except slightly worse and with some completely tacked-on mechanics? That was my take, at least. Sold it as soon as I could. Honestly, I think even Fallout 3 has lost its luster for me by now, but I think I already had a big write-up on that in this thread somewhere...
Monster Hunter Stories is the best "Pokemon" game I have played. Dragon Ball fusions and LBX were also great.
Seriously... It makes me sad to think that the game was so unpopular because Pokemon really needs competition to step up their game and these 3 games did something similar yet different and refreshing at the same time because their approach was unique. However, despite that many gamers just called them "clones" or "rip-offs" and defended the franchise way better than any lawyer could, as if monster/ character collecting coud be only allowed by them. It's a shame because with actual competition, the gaming community is the one that wins, but just as they hate on pokemon for small changes, they give them everything to show the support on said practices and don't give opportunity to new projects that are full of passion and creativity. I'm aware that pokemon games are really meaty experiences and some of the users may know that I'm a supporter of the franchise, but that's precisely wh it's so incredible that these games, in their first try, were actual contenders to a monster that has many years of experience perfecting the formula and that despite small, have their loyal fans that enjoyed their gameplay more. There's more space for more than one monster collecting rpg, people. Also, they accomplished to give a spin-off that is completely different to the core MH games, yet faithful to them and full of details that fans o the series that gave it a chance would enjoy.
Oh well, who knows, maybe somehow this approach to MH gets another chance. In the meantime I'll keep enjoying it because I haven't had this much fun with a game for a while. Sorry for the little, unpopular rant.
Super Mario Odyssey is fun, but it's the sort of game that I'm growing less fond of the more time passes from my initial encounter with it. There are some genuinely great moons to collect in this game, but, more often than not, it feels like they just puked out dozens of moons everywhere and called it a day. And the motion controls is this game are just awful, and really gimp handheld play. Moreover, as I replay sections of the story campaign with friends, it really is startling how brain-dead easy this game is 90% of the time.
@CreamyDream Cuphead reminds me more of Contra Hard Corps than Metal Slug. It's lacking the frantic chaos of MS's arcade origins, and the primary focus of the game is on elaborate boss fights.

I don't know, perhaps I'm just bad, but I don't really find it too easy. Like the bosses were the easiest thing for me, but beyond that, doing stuff the first times, I'd be lying if I didn't die frequently doing stuff.
Doing things later on is usually a different story though.
Well honestly, here's a question that should be answered:
Is it easy because of the level design, or is it easy because you've played Mario/platformers since childhood?
For me, I fit in the latter category, so it's tricky to say it's just easy.
For me, it's easy because of the level design. Most of the challenge stages feel like they are missing one more iteration of the level's mechanic. The mandatory levels, particularly in the Sand Kingdom and New Donk City are really good, but were substantially easier than even Galaxy, which many people consider pretty easy.
Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F
My biggest complaint with the Mario Odyssey is the fact that many of the moons rely on just platforming to get them, and nothing really interesting or unique. I get that Mario is a platforming series, but I don't see why there can't be unique goals in there, too. Platforming doesn't always have to be just getting from point A to point B. Sunshine did a good job of this. While the game is pretty flawed for a Nintendo game and some of the stuff was just kind of dumb, there was a lot of variety in the game. You never really knew what your next goal would be, whereas in Odyssey you generally get a decent idea of what the whole game will be once you get past the Sand Kingdom.
I'm still waiting for that Sunshine sequel, Nintendo. Odyssey came close, but it didn't quite scratch that itch.
Give us a Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door sequel while you're at it, too. That game is such a masterpiece, and I think it's criminally underrated. It also shows that Nintendo can make good stories and characters, but they just don't for some reason.
I've yet to play TTYD, but Paper Mario 64 and Sticker Star are both horrendously boring games.
@CreamyDream I replayed Galaxy recently, and the game is tough as nails in comparison to Odyssey. Pretty much every Mario game is. Even 3D World.
I mean, I get it, the emphasis has shifted away from tests of skill to "observation," but I still can't help but feel somewhat underwhelmed by the whole experience.
Still a fantastic game, though.

@Ralizah I've tried Paper Mario 64 a few times and been left cold a few hours in. TTYD on the other hand is an incredible game that I couldn't recommend highly enough.
@StuTwo Good to hear. It's one of the few games I actually own for my GameCube, so I'll need to sit down and experience it one day when I'm not already glutted with games.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
@CreamyDream I don't know, I thought they did a really good job on all the areas. To each his own, though.
But yeah, I don't remember Galaxy being all that challenging, either. Maybe I just didn't get to the hard parts or something, cause I never did bother to finish those games. I'm just not into games that are pure platformers with no other goals at all.
