Topic: G4 Cancels X-Play and AOTS

So yeah, apparently G4 wants to change its image of being "geeky" and whatnot so they cancelled X-Play and AOTS.

I never liked X-Play or AOTS. I thought the hosts were terrible and frankly the content was redundant. The various video game websites have far better coverage and information then anything X-Play could hope to provide. And AOTS was just awful and painful to watch.

The only thing I watch on G4 is Reviews on the Run, and occasionally EP. I find the hosts to be intelligent and funny while the content is presented in an interesting way.

I'm curious to see what everyone else here at NL thinks about G4 and its programming. Go!

X-play and AOTS was over when Adam and Kevin left as far as I'm concerned.

So when G4 hits rock bottom, they just call in a giant excevator and start digging...

Sounds like it might turn into a sort of "Spike TV" type channel. I'll admit I watch a fair bit of Spike, but it isn't exactly quality programming most of the time.

I hated X-play. Their reviews were just terrible, rating every amazing game from nintendo as a 1 or 2 star game (Only nintendo game that deserves that is pokepark wii), and rating stupid mindless games like MW3 perfect scores while leaving great third party games like Assassin's creed in the average range.

X-Play was only a hollow shell of what it once was anyways. Still, while it had turned into something horrible, it's still somewhat sad to see the last vestige of the old G4 going away.

As for AOTS, I never really liked it. It was the first step in their "Spikeification", where they started to move away from video game exclusivity.

Those are the days when G4 was in it's prime.

I know G4 has gone downhill since they got rid of all the old gaming shows but I still watched Aots and X-Play. Neither show has been the same since Kevin and Adam left but I'm still a little sad to see them end. I'll definitely miss Morgan Webb. R.I.P. G4.

X-Play has been dead for years. They're just finally making it official.

X-Play did have a significant lack of coverage of Nintendo related news and software.
It is understandable though, considering their target audience was male adolescents who only play "hardcore" games.

Also, what ever happened to Unbeatable Banzuke?

Considering cops-rerun-channel has been dead for a while, I couldn't care less.

X-Play was full of biased preference opinions presented as if they should be taken as fact. I always hated X-Play. As for AOTS I found it amusing at times but ultimately I'm indifferent about it really. All I can say about X-Play is 'I'm glad it got cancelled' personally.

They were jumping sharks anyways.
It will suck knowing that I'm going to have to pay for Twitch TV for most my E3 footage.

Oh man, I didn't think about that yet until you just mentioned it! That's one good thing from X-Play I must admit was FREE COVERAGE NEWS(for the viewers of course) of E3 yearly! Ah well there is still the forums.

I'm not all that worried about E3. All the major press conferences are streamed online, & then posted on YouTube.

I liked the show when it was called Gamespot TV and to a lesser extent when it was called Extended Play. I never cared for it during the X-Play years. And I never liked AOTS.
