Does Dungeons & Dragons (the actual games with boards, paper, and books) count?
Probably not - usually when people say RPGs, they're referring to the video game variety. Games like Dungeons & Dragons usually are referred as pen & paper instead.
Pokemon Blue was my first rpg. My first text heavy rpg was Valkyrie Profile though. I loved that game so much that I actually had a note book where I wrote down the dialog from all of the cut scenes just so I could read them again later.
it was Pokémon Yellow(if I remember correctly) I was disappointed because it was nothing like the cartoon but kept playing because all the other kids loved it, it was only when Pokémon Crystal came around that I really started liking Pokémon games and RPGs in general

It was probably either Pokemon Yellow or Paper Mario TTYD though I can't remember. But I only played those because they were Nintendo games not because they were RPG's my first RPG that got me into the genre itself was Tales of the World Radiant Mythology...maybe.
