Mine was Final Fantasy 1 and 2 for GBA. I was 10 when I got it, I played FF1 first for a bit ignoring all the text in, attacking all the enemies I saw, and got lost in the first half in hour in the game. As for FF2 the same thing but got lost in the first 10 minutes in the games. I barely played FF2 again....
The Megaman Battle Network series is underrated... I think, don't quote me on this.

Basically the same, white lil'bro. Though my first RPG experience I enjoyed and beat was Paper Mario: TTYD.
Final Fantasy VI (then known as 3) in the SNES..... I think its a great game as a RPG starter because the mechanics are relatively simple and the difficulty is low compared other JRPGs
The first rpg I ever "experienced" Final Fantasy 7.Thought I barely got through the prologue sequence of the game because I was amazed of the graphics and music of this game...that I kept pausing (I was in my daycare years, lol). Though I think my first REAL rpg experience was either pokemon gold or ...paper mario.
The first game that I got really hooked on. Granted I'd just gotten into gaming and didn't know what the heck I was doing, it was still an amazing experience.
I always thought the Gold Golum was so cool back in the day! I can still remember the battle music playing in my head as I type this. DW was and still is cool even by today's standards.
Erm...Super Mario RPG? It was the first one I played. When I was younger, I thought upping Power and Magic was a stupid idea because HP was the best stat to have! So, all game I only picked the HP bonus when I leveled up. I learned the hard way: I got stuck at the boss fight with Valentina at Nimbus Land, and never progressed further. It wasn't until years later when I played the game again (because our SNES controllers broke and we got new ones) and I made sure I did it the right way.
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)
Final Fantasy Legend on the Gameboy, loved the game at the time and was shocked years later (via the miracle of the internet) to find out most people didn't rate it too highly, would love a VC release on the 3DS
Ultima IV - Master System. Loads too hard for me at the time. (I could barely read). I got the Mandrake and Nightshade but none of the stones. (And all the characters).
I did almost all of the Master System Phantasy Star after that. (Got to the final part of the Ice World). But I spent about two months before I realised how to get the road pass.
Next was Final Fantasy - Mystic Quest (Which I finished).
(I finished Golvelius and the Valley of Doom as well but that is not really a proper RPG).

Freedom of the press is for those who happen to own one.
Way out of left field, but I started with Dark Sun and Champions of Krynn. I never could get past the final battle in Dark Sun; in retrospect it's pretty amazing I made it so far in the first place.

I loved Dark Sun, awesome setting for an rpg, had same problem with the last battle, way too hard even when at max levels, had to use the cheat in the end to see the ending
