I just recently played through GC's Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and was totally mesmerised about how good it is. I just gotta have more, so i just wanted to ask your opinions about which games are the best in the series, or what should i get next!

I like Fire Emblem (the first western GBA release) the best, and The Sacred Stones second. Both are really great and still stand up to the test of time even though they're only GBA games. Really excellent graphics and animation, great music and difficulty curve. I haven't played Radiant Dawn so I couldn't say much about it.

Path of Radiance is as addicting as crack. Seriously, I've played through it at least six times now from start to finish. I've also played the GBA ones, but I liked the PoR characters better.

Radiant Dawn was the series's awesomeness at an all-time high. A very complex offering that I REALLY sunk my teeth into.

Shadow Dragon was great too, though I didn't like the lack of supports. I want an international release of Shin Monsho no Nazo (FE3 remake) SO BADLY.

I'm gone. Good f*cking bye.

Noire

The first Western Fire Emblem is the other one that's really good, after Path of Radiance. The others are still very good, but just not as good.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

I prefer the Fire Emblem Gaiden and Fire Emblem for the NES the most. They have the least amount of story and are most like Advanced Wars, which I enjoy very much. Judging from what I've played, the series has evoveled little over time, so I'd pick the one that's the least annoying and most gameplay-focused.

I didn't like Fire Emblem:Path of Radiance on the Wii, I found it to be real boring.

Fire Emblem:The Sacred Stones was The Best, The Gameplay was alot more fun.

The DS Fire Emblem remake was ok too.

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

Path of Radiance is on Gamecube. Did you mean Radiant Dawn?

Well, for GC/Wii the story is acctually above avarage and 100% skipable (take this MoM!)
gameplaywise the game had much welcome additions, not something to miss

What gameplay enhancements? I didn't notice much that wasn't in the GBA games besides better graphics.

Even skipping story scenes gets on my nerves when I have to keep skipping them every time I restart, which is very frequently. And personally, I just don't really like laving a story in a strategy game. The more I know about my pawns, the harder it is for me to put them in difficult situations. That's why I prefer a game like Advanced Wars or Fire Emblem NES - your guys are just pawns, so unless they held some strategic importance, it's easy to just move on when they die instead of, say, restarting the entire battle to do it all again, except make sure no one dies this time. Besides, the story's so disconnected in an FE game that there doesn't seem like it's worth bothering with. What's the point of knowing more about a world if I never interact with it? I'm better off going straight to the battlefield where the real action is.

I think the GBA versions are the best out of the Western releases - although the first game was really hard to track down (at least in England anyway). Am currently about half way through Path of Radiance on my second playthrough, got a bit nostalgic for it after beating Radiant Dawn which takes for-freaking-ever.

Shadow Dragon on DS is good, but I never really clicked with the graphics, would have preferred them to stick with the GBA style of battle animations etc. By comparison Shadow Dragon was relatively uninspiring.

Oh also, I'll be reviewing both GBA entries quite soon, so watch this space.

Yeah, I absolutely think the first GBA game is the best of the western releases. There's just so much in there with 3 main characters and storylines, and all of the characters are really great. Real classics. Serra is lol-worthy. And tragic. D: But so awesome. Dang, I should replay it some time.

And the story in the GBA games from what I can recall wasn't disconnected at all. As long as you could remember what had happened previously (as in you didn't leave the game alone for too long) then it was easy to follow and, while not the deepest story ever put in a game, was entertaining.

@Blakey Looking forward to the reviews.

By disconnect, I mean it feels like it's...seperate. I guess by the law of opposites, a "connected" story would be one where you're in some way a part of things. Like how in Shing Force you're given an area where you can interact with the characters and such. In FE it usually just feels like everybody stopped at a theatre on the way to the next bout. It just seems like I could simply skip the story and I'm not missing anything at all. It's all seperate from the rest of the game.

@Faron: If I was in your position, I would go with Radiant Dawn. Love that game. If you like the Fire Emblem games, you'll probably want to check out the Final Fantasy Tactics series, too.

Sacred Stones was my all time favorite, mainly because of the branching class system, world map, and incredible characters. I wrote a review on it on my Gamespot account (link in my sig).

The first internationally released FE on GBA was pretty good too, and so was Path of Radiance. Haven't finished either yet, but I will eventually. Never played Radiant Dawn, though.

Shadow Dragon, on the other hand, was terrible in comparison. The story was incredibly generic and boring and the characters had no backstory whatsoever.

Yeah, they probably should've wrote on the box somewhere that it was a remake of a Famicom game. The game it's based on had virtually no story, as did every game before the SNES.

Yeah but considering it was a remake I thought they'd add a bit more story, like they did with Metroid's remake, Zero Mission.

They did. The story in the Famicom game consisted of 3 lines of text at the beginning of every battle, most of which just told you what your objective was.

Meh okay. But its story wasn't comparable to other installments.

Oh, and thats IMO.
