I'm divided between the Dualshock 4 and the Wii U gamepad. The gamepad has the touchscreen which can be pretty sweet, but it's not that great other wise. The Dualshock 4 is absolutely amazing with every thing. The face buttons, triggers, shoulder buttons, D-pad, controller shape, ect.. are all great. Plus it has the touchpad which can be pretty cool and is it's own unique thing.

I've never owned a home console, so have never owned any controllers, but I will be getting my first, an Xbox 360 controller for my laptop soon!

I've played a Playstation, a Gamecube, an NES, a PS2, a Wii, and a Wii U before, though... the PS2 I hardly remember, but out of the others I love the Wii U gamepad to pieces when I've used it...! I just watch the gamepad instead of the TV.

I thought that the N64 controller would have been perfect for Capcom fighters thanks to its d-pad and 6 button layout. My personal favorite pad, though, has to be the Gamecube controller. Seriously, those dual-button analogue triggers were the best. And the flight stick button layout was great.

You havn't seen BAD BOYS 2 ???!!

Genesis 6 button. I love the shape. It isn't functionally compatible with modern games, of course; the Classic Controller is my favorite that (basically) is. I like how the face button rhombus on that one doesn't make the standard mistake of being too vertically spaced out.

This is not to undermine the Wii Remote(+) and Nunchuk. For games that use cursor aiming, it is essential. It seems like the original Sin & Punishment was made with this controller combo in mind. I also loved finally being able to aim the bow in Zelda games properly, as well as all the control enhancements the controller afforded in Metroid Prime 3. It's not my go-to controller for games that aren't really built for motion control or IR pointing, though.

I like the Wii U gamepad, it's big and fits my hands well, and it's also the only home console input device I can think of that let's you not only play games with it, but ON it.
Sometimes I think I'm the only person who thinks that's one of the coolest things they've ever seen in a home gaming console.

If it wasn't for the crappy D-Pad, I would say the 360 controller, however, with that in the mind, I'll have to throw in another vote for the Gamecube controller. Really great design.

Gamecube. In my opinion, Nintendo should have used that mold for the Wii U Pro controller.

Gamepad would be my second favourite. It's so nifty (especially for Zelda). Dualshock 3 would be in third.

Dualshock 2 for me 100%. ALso I really enjoy the simple NES controler.

Favorite Games: Sonic CD, Sonic 3 and Knuckles, Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland, and Call of Duty: Black Ops, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game, and Mega Man 5.

How many of these threads do we need... We all know that the Saturns awesome controller wins these debates

Also I find that the Gamepad is now equal to the Saturn on MAB's favourite controller of all time pedestal.

I would say the nintendo 64 controller, but after playing the good ol' 64 again and remembering how weird it was playing with those things, I would have to say the GameCube controller. I never play super smash bros. brawl without it. And the few times I do play without it, I suck. Simple as that. Plus I grew up with the GameCube, so it will always hold a special place in my heart.

I'll be there when you least expect it.

It used to be the GC, but I think I prefer the Classic Controller Pro after using it for Xenoblade and then trying it in Smash Bros.

Saturn controller is my fav, was also a fan of the wiimote nunchuk combo when it wasn't too waggle oriented.

Gamecube controller, it feels just as good in my hands as when I first picked it up to play Smash when I was little.

  • Sega Saturn had the best controller before analog sticks became standard.
  • The Wii U Pro Controller is my favorite modern traditional controller. Perfect weight, perfect shape, it's excellent. It's like the used the already-good 360 controller as a model and fixed everything that was wrong with it.
  • The Gamepad is my favorite non-traditional controller. Second screen is so convenient that it's hard to go back to playing without it.
  • My favorite 3rd party controller is the Logitech Cordless Action Controller for PS2. Only 3rd party controller I've ever used that was actually better than the 1st party controller.

GCN pad, followed by 360 pad. Shame about the 360's d-pad though.

GuSolarFlare

Gamecube controller.

The PS3 and GameCube controllers, both seem to fit nice and comfortably in my hand - and I don't need to stretch to reach any of the buttons. Also, the N64 controller, once you get used to it, was nice to use.
