Yes, by all means, Nintendo should follow the crowd...
Seriously, though, that previous post was merely my stance on the whole "achievements" nonsense. I suppose if Nintendo really is looking to court the "hardcore gamerz" (the 'z' makes it even more "hardcore"), then an achievement system will most likely be put in place for them. "Now you can brag to your friends about how you've stomped over 9,000 Goombas!" Ah, inanity...
"Don't make enemies, they'll stab your heart; don't make friends, they'll stab your back. Including me, including you, all men are trash. Don't love; don't be loved. Have nothing to do with other; live in isolation."
With everyone complaining about Pikmin 3's absence, I have a better question: where was Dragon Quest X?! Did they forget about it? I wonder if people even know if it was announced for Wii years ago...
No doubt Nintendo had a great press conference, but there are two things they could have done for a perfect one: -More new games. They showed a lot of games, which, don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled for, that we're already announced. Luigi's Mansion 2 and Mario Party 9 were the only new titles shown (not counting any Wii U games).
-Should've shown at least one more concrete title. To my knowledge, the only Wii U games shown by Ninty were Wii U sports (unless that was only a tech demo) and New Super Mario Bros. Mii, and the announcements for Pikmin 3 and Smash Brothers. Yeah, there was that sweet third party trailer, but one more showing of a Nintendo IP would've been nice.
What was REALLY disappointing was the practically non-existant showings of third party developers (as much as the third party trailer for Wii U got me excited). Capcom? Nothing. To my chagrin, I've found no E3 coverage of Megaman Legends 3. Square Enix? With the exception of DQ Monsters Joker 2, nope. Konami? Forget it. Namco? The brief Tekken was nice, I guess... Natsume? Just some clips of Harvest Moon and RF Oceans. Ubisoft? You saved yourself with Rayman Origins, so good job on that. Even third parties for Xbox and Playstation were paper thin. I know the big three are the main concern, but it seems like this was a good E3 for Nintendo and NO ONE else. (Okay, Microsoft had about three games that caught my interest, so it was semi-decent for them).
I mean, why did they have to announce Modern Warfare 3 and Assassin's Creed Revelations shortly before E3? I doubt it's a good reason. Compare the G4 E3 coverage vs. the VGAs in terms of ratings, yet look at all the announcements and new trailers at the VGAs. Just...why?
AND WHERE IS LAST STORY AND EARTHSEEKER?! I cannot stress this enough, why weren't these announced for localization in America?
