I was depressed for several months a few years back. I had broken my back in a car accident and the rehab was going slowly and was pure torture. That plus a heavy load of cortiosteroids they gave me caused me to be in a bad way for a while. Luckily, I'm more or less at 100% these days, and my mood has come back to normal as well.

Nope. Somebody once said (probably a sitcom ) that if he ever asked himself, "Why me?" when he was sad, he'd have to do the same whenever something good happened to him. I really wish I could remember who it was...
Seriously though, there's no need to be depressed people, things could always be worse, just being alive is reason to be cheerful. I'm a BIG fan of optimism, mainly cos I don't like the alternative. Big hugs to all!
@blaze I like and hate those websites at the same time. They are good for raising awareness, but at the same time people will go on those sites and go "I have (insert symptoms here) therrefore I MUST have (insert mental disorder here)
Personally I have clinical depression, aspergers, and bipolar II but with my medicine im just like anyone else.
@Rjay, Honestly If you feel you do have a disorder and it is consuming your life then don't be afraid to see a psychologist, psychotherapist, or psychologist Go to webmd.com they are much better than "personality disorder tests"
I suffer from seasonal depression. I get really sad whenever someone puts pepper on their eggs.
So your sadness doesn't go away with thyme?!
I crack me up!
Seriously you guys. This person tries to make a serious thread and you just crack jokes. RJay if I was you I'd take their comments with a pinch of salt! (see what I did there)
@jangonov: I agree such sites shouldn't be seen as an alternative to being diagnosed by a professional, but can be moderately useful in pointing out some info, but absolutely any concerns are best dealt with by professionals.

Self-diagnosis is a bad idea, you can tell yourself you've got all sorts of things that way (when u r probably fine).
I have been, wouldn't say depressed, but down in the past and I found the best cure is to exercise.Go for a nice long run(or even a brisk walk if your not a runner) in the great outdoors.Clears your head and releases loads of feelgood chemicals in the body. A natural high is the only high I chase these days. I mean if it's really bad then yes see a doctor/psychologist but be careful before taking any pills they might give you as that will just mask the problems and could make things worse. If your down because of circumstances then try to change them, try and make more friends and resolve issues you have with family(if possible) and always try to see the positive in things(not always easy I know). At the end of the day we don't know how long we have got on this earth so try and make the most of everyday.
