Yeah, I agree with Iz20XX here. The difference is FAR from what the DVD was to VHS IMO.
But anyway. I don't have one yet. I had a Ps3 before but had to sell it later. I'm gonna wish for a Blueray Player on my birthday and for Christmas though. So hopefully I'll manage to get one.
Looking forward to: No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again
If you have an HDTV, the difference in quality with Blu Ray is really remarkable in some films. It's very easy to tell the difference if you ask me. Blu Ray is to DVD what DVD is to VHS. If you don't have a very good HD TV, however, it probably won't make much of a difference.
This. The bigger the TV, the bigger the difference between Blu-Ray and DVD.
Not yet. I currently have Netflix. and that takes up a majority of my movie watching. I rarely use my DVD player anymore. No need for it now that I have Netflix streaming.
Does anybody else feel irked using the PS3 as a Bluray/DVD Player?....It just doesn't feel right to me. Anyways, a Month before the Wii U rolls around, I'll most likely sell my PS3 and just get a 2012 Bluray Player along with my first true plunge into the HDTV world with a 2012 50" Samsung/Panasonic 1080p 3D Plasma HDTV. I'm incredibly stoked!
That aside, i hate collecting Blurays...I don't know, i just hate the look of the cases. For me, DVD's are somewhat or mildy becoming the way of VHS....Mildy and I just love collecting them. I've got about over 10 Blurays, and over 100 DVD's. I'm sure once i take that HD Plunge my Bluray collection will be getting more packed.
Are Panasonic TVs still good? I know Samsung makes great TVs, but I heard their LED TVs are amazing.
At my house, I had 2 blu ray players and 1 PS3 (Does that count?), and now in my dorm room, i just use my PS3. But the picture quality is AMAZING. And the disc holds more memory so there is more room for bonus features and games.

Does Netflix even stream in HD?
I think so. But the problem with Netflix is that they don't have EVERY movie. And the TV shows i wanna watch either aren't there or they only have the first season. (Glee, i'm talking to you)
I wonder how long this Blue Ray thing can last? Since practically every form of media is being downloaded from the internet these days. Are Blue Rays suddenly going to be obsolete just like standard DVD's are getting to be?

I never really understood the big argument over whether or not Blu-Ray was better than DVD. However, I do think from what I've seen that the Pirates of the Caribbean and Narnia movies do look better on Blu-Ray as opposed to DVD.
I have no real intention of buying a Blu-Ray Players but once I purchase the PS3 thanks to the price drop then we shall indeed have a Blu-Ray Player.

We have 1 Blu-ray player in our house. Animation really shines in High Definition. Ponyo and The Princess and the Frog are dazzling on Blu-ray. Colors are vivid, lines are sharp, and the audio is amazing. If you want to see how great a Live action movie looks, I suggest you watch Soul Surfer. Other than being a fantastic movie, the transfer is beautiful, the ocean has never looked so blue, and you can see the grain of the sandy beaches.
