I'm still using standard DVD's but I have been thinking of upgrading. Is the difference really that spectacular?

Hell no, and I won't get Blu-Ray until you can't find anything on DVD anymore. Blu-Ray's the worst gimmick since HD. They're just trying to rip me off by selling me a product that's barely different from the DVD. I can't even see the difference in the quality of the picture and who cares about the extra space on Blu-Ray? I hardly ever watch all of the extras anyway.
I'll stick to my cheap and high quality DVDs, thank you very much. I don't wanna pay +€10 for minimal differences. I hope DVDs will still be around for a good while, so I don't have to start buying that crap until it's much cheaper.

@WaltzElf: HD movies take too long to download and too much space for an ipod/ipad to be a good route for me. I'll stick with physical media that usually costs the same as the downloadable counterpart and the physical media usually comes with free digital copy anyways that I don't use.
yeah in my ps3 and since i didnt have an extensive collection of dvds which they are getting replaced and my blu-ray collection is getting bigger and i refuse to buy anything that is tv series on dvd despite how cheap they might be for example (how i met your mother) theres only season 4 on blu-ray and i want to get the collection but nope i will wait as long as i have too
so yeah point is its blu-ray from here on out gotta accomdate my hdtv for it after all
noted to mention dvd copies are bundled for the most part i never used the dvd versions unless i have a portable dvd player but rather have a portable blu-ray player to take with me which will probably happen in a couple years give or take i hope
I don't know hpw some of you guys can watch a Movie on your I-Pad or even your Lap Top in favor over a big screen TV. watching a movie on a tiny screen ompletely and utterly destroys the experience imo...Comedies....Ok maybe that's 'passable'....maybe...Then again. but watching a fantasty or even horror flick on a small screen compeltely destroys any sense of immersion...And it takes away that sense of grandness and big movie theatre feel.
People who are into film or consider themselves movie lovers don't watch movies on little dinky devices. Then again, to each their own. But it just degrades the experience 10x if that.
Aren't you from the 80s? What happened to small bulky TVs?

If you have an HDTV, the difference in quality with Blu Ray is really remarkable in some films. It's very easy to tell the difference if you ask me. Blu Ray is to DVD what DVD is to VHS. If you don't have a very good HD TV, however, it probably won't make much of a difference.

I don't think so. DVD was a much bigger improvement over VHS than the Blu-ray over DVD

I don't think you have a right to this conversation seeing as you can't even tell how awesome HD is with those birdfreak eyes of yours
