Are you one of those people who try to avoid the Greatest Hits/Platinum Hits/whatever versions of games? In recent years I've noticed that I strongly dislike them for some reason and I feel like they're punishment for waiting to buy a game. I don't like how they look on the shelf.
I know the game isn't any different, and I do have a few red boxes on my shelf. But when I'm buying a game, i will actually go out of my way to see if a regular copy is available.
I'm a collector and would rather pay more to avoid Greatest Hits versions for retro games. I don't really care about the versions for current generation games since they don't hold any value anyway.
To blessed to be stressed.
80's music makes me feel fabulous.
What Would Duane Do? Rynoggery
Honestly the boxes dont bother me one way or another. I like them cause with my budget it allows me to get alot of games that otherwise I probably would have missed.

No. They are a reprint that has greatest hits on it to make it sound good. I don't mind the red on it. I don't see how they are a punishment. I don't see why they would really bother someone.
The best greatest hits was 'They Sold a Million 3'
I had the Amstrad version, loved Ghostbusters, Kung Fu Master, Rambo First Blood part 2, not so much Fighter Pilot, but a overall a good compilation
To be honest, I like the red cases of PS3 Greatest Hits games. I think the box looks alot sharper and eyecatching than normal PS3 cases, or even the blue cases that are being used for PS4 and Vita games.
I also think greatest hits versions of certain games are a better value, since some of them tend to include DLC content like Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Batman Arkham City, and other games. So in some cases, I may hold off on picking up a game until it becomes a greatest hit, since I get the nice looking red case and might score some DLC as well:)
Now, I don't really care either way about Platinum Hits cases. They seem rather dull to me.

Yeah, seriously. Who has the energy to waste hating such trite things.

I totally agree with you, I mean we still get to play the same game, It's not like the case affects your experience. Some people find really funny things to complain about. I mean if you are a collector and like to get the cover you want it's one thing, but still the game is in your collection. Who cares? Doesn't matter at the end of the day.
I only have one Nintendo Select (The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess), and being a collector, I wish I had the regular box art. I guess it's ok though, since it was only $20.
It's only a problem for Hardcore collectors because it doesn't match with the rest of their collection. Personally, I'd rather pay less to get the same content or possibly more, so I have absolutely no qualms with them.
