Many of you in Britain (and possibly the rest of Europe) are probably well-aquainted with the prestigious Goodwood Revival, with its historic racecars and motorcycles. The event is also renowned for featuring historic racecar drivers from around the world.
Well, here in California, we have an equivalent. It is known as the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion (until 2010 it was known as the Monterey Historic Automobile Races). The event is held at Mazda Raceway Laguna-Seca. Like Goodwood it features historic (often extremely valuable) racecars competing for glory in various classes, but unlike Goodwood they don't compete as hard lest they damage their multimillion-dollar cars.
Regardless, the event has world class racecars such as the prewar Bugattis, the Corvette Stingray, and the Jaguar XKE. Even the legendary Cobras and GT40s are featured. Legends from around the world have attended, such as Sir Stirling Moss and Carrol Shelby.
Classes range from the prewar days of Bugatti vs Bentley to the IMSA GTP days of the late 80s.
