After seeing what marvelous things Jerry Bruckheimer has done in the bridge between fantasy/ surreal in Pirates of the Caribbean and Del Toro with his animated Hellboy cartoons it is very exciting for me to imagine what the two of them could do if they united to create an animated version of 'The Twilight Zone' in the vein of a cross between Del Toro's animated Hellboy and Cartoon Network's Generator Rex. The idea of all this began while watching an Twilight Zone- esque episode of Generator Rex today from season one called 'Breach'.

I haven't really see Warehouse 13, Source Code and Fringe but I've heard they are in the vein and trend of The Twilight Zone but I might check them out.

BTW check this out guys: http://www.wired.com/underwire/2009/12/sci-fi-tv-reboots/

Being as The Twilight Zone ran the gamut from science fiction to fantasy to philosophical treatise to family drama to uplifting holiday palaver to silent film to horror film to political intrigue to light comedy to arthouse pretension to literary adaptation to social commentary to slapstick to monster movie, I have absolutely no idea what direction this would even take.

So, yeah, let's do it, because remakes by totally unrelated creative teams are uniformly excellent.

Does anyone else think of the actual Twilight Zone first? You know, the layer of ocean between 200-1000m beneath the ocean.
No? I'll just be over here..

/me vomits in horror, and goes to calm down Rod Serling's rolling-over corpse.

An animated version would be a horribly, horribly, horrible idea.

BTW, The Twilight Zone has been "rebooted" at least twice, in syndicated series (most recently hosted by Forrest Whitaker, if memory serves). Both were fairly mediocre, and both were surpassed by the slightly-less-than mediocre (and often quite excellent) Outer Limits reboot some years ago.

Del Toro is giving Pinocchio a whole new twist as well. I like Del Toro's work and I really would like to see a more modern mystical, fantasy/ mystery, supernatural/ sci-fi twist given to The Twilight Zone for a new audience as the original show is kind of slow and sleepy compared to what it'd be like if it was made today by someone like J.J. Abrams, Roberto Orci, J. Bruckheimer or Del Toro.

The Twilight Zone that I'm envisioning would be like a cross between the wonder and bizarreness of Tim Burton's Batman Returns, Batman: Arkham City, Kingdom Hearts, Fringe and spooky episodes of Smallville and the wonder of SyFy Channel's Tin Man and of course Johnny Depp and Robert Patterson should be involved in this project. As for the tone and visual style, I'd like to see it along the lines of Twilight New Moon.

Shows like the Twilight Zone don`t have any particular direction and is often worked on by different people all the time. I wouldn`t mind more Twilight Zone since I like that sort of stuff. The Outer Limits would be awesome too. I don`t think anyone who ever watched the Twilight Zone or knows what it is would be particularly interested in an animated version. Very few people anyhow. Maybe it would get watched on like Cartoon Network or whatever, but if it gets put on the Sci-fi channel, few will watch it.

Oh man, I remember doing a speech in like grade 7 or 8 where I used the intro lines as my introduction thing.

You're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind; a journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's the signpost up ahead — your next stop, the Twilight Zone.

Oh man, how I love the original Twilight Zone. Heck, I still watch some of the epsiodes today! Sadly, the remakes are fair but they are nothing compared to the original classic episodes.
