I'm just curious. Are cabbage patch doll's actually evil? I've heard this since the 90's when I was kid but was alway's curious if it was true or not. I used to have a girl cabbage patch snacktime kid doll I got used at the thrift store for maybe $2 or $3 with the birth certificate, her original outfit on her & all her accessories with her stapled to her in a ziplock bag. In hindsight I probably should have kept her but ironically the day I got her. I just got home turned on the news on tv & the cabbage patch snacktime kid doll was being recalled for eating girls hair? Lol~ I also got freaked out by not being able to find an on & off switch on the doll. I ended up having her sit on my dresser at night as opposed to having the doll in bed. Was afraid she'd eat my hair in my sleep lol~ šŸ¤£ I got her mainly because she was a mechanical doll & also a cabbage patch doll. The other cabbage patch doll I had back then I got from dollar general store on clearance for $20. I remember her also being mechanical, I named her Chelsea & her wearing a pink & purple pastel outfit & her being released in 1999~ I recently got a boy cabbage patch snacktime kid, a cabbage patch naptime doll, & 2 cabbage patch baby so real doll's. I enjoy the heck out of them. I heard soo many different stories back then. Is there any truth to cabbage patch doll's being evil? I never got a good or bad feeling from any of my cabbage patch doll's but just curious~ šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļøāœŒļø

@Barbiegurl777 In the eyes of certain internet personalities, yes.

But seriously, apart from their looks, they're harmless.

I would say so. But not as much as Garbage Pail Kids are.

@Eel That's what they want you to believe. But we've all seen Child's Play, I mean, Toy Story.

While the Japanese believe that spirits do live in certain objects, and I do believe that there's a certain truth to ancient voodoo magic dolls... Cabbage Patch dolls are probably not one of those cases. If anything, the only evil they possess is suckering kids into paying for those creepy little things.

You say that as if the statue ever did anything in the movie šŸ˜…

@Eel
It cried blood.

So rather than doing anything, it's actually contributing to the emotions of the movie. By crying for the tragedy to come. And that's a good thing.

Then again, I might be remembering the wrong movie. All these bloody statues look the same to me.

Did it? I donā€™t recall that scene.

Anyway. Iā€™d say a better example of an ā€œevilā€ inanimate object in a movie would be Annabelle.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I remember the wrong movie. The actual statue was vandalized (possibly by Pazuzu) as a form of sacrilege against God or whatever. I can't show the image because it's NSFW.

So rather than the statue doing anything, I'd say it's more of a victim.

Ahh that would be the statue of Virgin Mary, yeah that one getsā€¦ Uh, decorated, by Pazu-Reagan.

I thought we were talking about the Pazuzu statue itself.

@Eel
My first thought was the Virgin Mary statue because it was the only thing in the movie that feels like it has any relevance in this topic, being the only creepy-looking statue because of the "decoration."

The Pazuzu statue, on the other hand... looks dull and mundane. For a statue of some demonic overlord, it sure doesn't look that fancy or flashy. I guess it does have that phallic snake coiling around its legs, but it's still quite subtle if you didn't look hard enough.

I believe that one actually based on actual ancient statues of Pazuzu. So itā€™s at least an accurate depiction.

Anyway, back on the topic at hand.

If you want evil dolls, just buy one of these:

I can't believe they thought selling a killer doll is a good idea. lol Normal dolls are creepy enough, but a doll based on a fictional serial killer? I don't know...

@Maxenmus , @Eel I always take that prologue bit to be a bit of an abstraction on how the devil (in the shape of Pazuzu) first meets Merrin.
So it's mainly about atmosphere, the crew having a jaunt to Iraq, and the introduction of Merrin and his limited life (as seen by his glycerine pills)
