Halloween is just an excuse for me to watch Tim Burton's "The Nightmare Before Christmas" Kinda kick off the holiday season early. And if you haven't seen this, watch it, NOW [youtube:3rPF7OF3-jk]
@Lun: Oh, yes, I like it. It's especially awesome when they redo the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland to Haunted Mansion Holiday (Nightmare Before Christmas theme). This year, they're redoing Space Mountain from what I hear. I want to go! =D [youtube:KRr_FWbB9WA]
What is the meaning of life? That's so easy, the answer is TETRIS.
they do a zombie walk downtown here... last year had a surprisingly large turnout. i hope the weather is nice for it this year too :3

[16:44] LztheBlehBird: James doesn't know the rules? For shame!!!
I don't. My parents think it's "Devil Worship". Oh well. While you guys are out trick or treating, i'll be sitting in my dorm playing me some Mirror's Edge and Assasin's Creed!
If you're in college, couldn't you just go anyway?
But the thing is I LISTEN TO MY PARENT'S TEACHINGS unlike other people. What they say, goes, and the rules still apply to me when they're not around.
Soooo ... your parents taught you that free candy is devil worship, but murder is A-OK. Well ... good to know, I suppose.
I don't! I also know of many Europeans which do not partake in this dismal "celebration". However, now may be the time to revive one of last year's threads.
how can I NOT celebrate Halloween/Samhein? (can't decide which name is cooler) favourite holiday of the year, if you ask me. Every year when I was a kid my two neighbours and I would try and set traps for trick or treaters, but no one ever came to our street sadly as our development was too far from where most of the kids in my town were. Even so, we had a blast, and nowadays, I always go crazy freaking people out at costume parties by hiding in the bushes out front in my ninja costume and scaring the bejeebies out of everyone.
I don't celebrate Halloween as I'm a Christian. Nevertheless, that doesn't stop me from enjoying Pumpkin Pies, Pumpkin Bread, Candy Corn and the like. I do think that Jack O' Lanterns are trippy but I stay away from the devil worship and the demonic side of things. I don't go Trick or Treating physically but I do take part in the annual Maple Story Halloween patches but I don't celebrate it as I understand the origins of Halloween dating all the way back to 'All Saints Day', 'All Hallows Eve' and all of the baggage that goes with it.
if we can get off the religious connotations of Halloween and focus more onto the implied 'do you dress up and/or go out trick-or-treating' purpose of the original question, that would be great. thanks, everyone.

i use to go out as a small kid up at around second year of high school but i cant remember anymore and im only 20 lol other then that i just plain stop going because of lazyness or lost the desire to do so
but i imagine once im more into the adult world if i actually get freinds or not i'll probably be invited to some halloween theme party for which i may decline
Maaan.. I love Halloween. In the past few years I've been a jellyfish, several dinosaurs, the ocean, The Standard Model of Particle Physics, a zombie businessman, the sky, and some sort of black furry thing completely covered in lights and discarded CDs. I loved trick or treating as a kid, and I love Halloween parties as an adult. And now I live in a country where people barely know what Halloween is, let alone have any activities to celebrate it. Life is hard.
I only really do cause of my son and take him trick or treating but I think that will be coming to an end here soon since he is getting too old for it now.
