Topic: Anime & Manga (NO SPOILERS PLEASE)

Hahaha, oh God, no. They still try to screw it over as horribly as they can, despite treating other shows (like One Piece, yay) very well. FUNimation completely screwed the Dragonball franchise over, and ruined every chance it had of getting a proper release, since their hackup-job somehow drew in people who enjoyed the space wrestling shitsoup they turned the series into.

Like that, I guess. The English Dragonball dub is pretty much considered a joke all over the world, with it's horrendously unfitting voices, embarassingly awful script, and music that could fit the series any less if it tried. Yet people like you grew up with it on Cartoon Network, somehow liked what you saw, and though the original version, they way it was intended to be viewed, and what made it a massive hit the world over, is somehow "unfitting to the series", despite this BEING "the series", rather than that joke of a re-edit you got. Oh god. It baffles me.

Wow, you found new ways to hate DBZ that I never even thought of. lol But you forget to mention how #$%@ing slow it is as well. In fact, because of its success other animes based on good manga became the either filler-filled or slow-as-hell crap that DBZ introduced. Examples: Rurouni Kenshin (Filler= SEASON 3) and of course NARUTO (100 episodes of filler? Boy howdy what a great show.)

@Adamant: Funimation treating One Piece very well? Can I buy whatever it is your taking to make you believe that? They treat it like it's nothing. They gave Luffy one of the WORST voice actors in existence. They practically raped one of the most emotionally powerful scenes in the entire series, changed nearly all of Zoro's attacks to english, and have utter crap for what they refer to as "dvd bonus features". I could go on about this, but I think i've said enough to prove my point.

@TwilightV-Valid points, but its still better than what 4Kids did...though that goes without saying.

@ Objection_Blaster: They just made it even worse for themselves. You heard about what happened to their streaming episodes. They're advertising is terrible, because I had never even known that they were streaming new eps. until it was too late.

Well, they are streaming FMA: Brotherhood right now right after the new episodes air in Japan. I watched one last week.

Yes, i've known about that since the first episode aired. They have loads of advertising for FMA.

I've recently been watching Dragonball Z and GT. I felt I should after watching most episodes of Dragonball when it first aired in English on Cartoon Network or whatever it was. That, and I wanted to see the Over 9000 scene in context. XD

DBZ went good until Buu was introduced. Literally. I thought the Great Saiyaman saga was the best saga.

After I finish with GT, I'll probably watch another anime. I'm not sure which one though. I've considered watching Dragonball again, since it's been so long, but I can't decide.

Somebody in the other anime thread asked if NINJA SCROLL was any good. (Yes I'm answering it here because I started this thread.) It was pretty good, and it does have its moments but in the end its only above average for its time (1995.)

I also recently finished Code Geass R2. Great, unexpected ending.

Yes, especially to see a certain scene with a big shuriken and a bad guy. Or, depending on your tastes, a certain scene with abad guy and a woman.

This should come as no suprice to people who have seen it. But Gurren Lagann is the pinnacle of anime in my books. I live by the lessons learned through it. Greatest show ever made.
I like Geass, Casshern Sins, Eureka 7, The girl who leapt through time and FLCL as well.

Also, not that i want to voice my negative thoughts. But Evangelion is the worst. I mean it was a totally ok series, but the ending(s) screw it up so bad, i really do not like it one bit. Not a inch of me likes it. I wanted to blow up every Eva Pachniko place when i was in Tokyo, because i dislike it so much. I can not understand why it is so popular.

Everyone hates the ending of NGE. Thats why they did a 2movie remake, which partially healed the ending's wounds. Now, they are making another quadrilogy that remakes the whole series with a new ending, with the first 2 parts done in Japan and the first part coming in December in the US.

No, all endings are horrible to EVA, period.
I will however, out of interest, watch this new ending. But i will expect disappointment.

The ending in the movie (the 2 part one, not the new quadrilogy which I have obviously not seen yet) was far better than the TV series ending. But mostly because it presents the physical things that happened instead of the philosophical metaphors that were the basis of the last 2 episodes. In other words, its mostly the same, but it shows you instead of just going through Shinji's thoughts.

Yea, i figured. Still doesn't change that it is horrible. It is to obscure, and the fact the maker even said "Open to interpretation" just screams cop-out to me.

My favourites are: trigun, Hellsing, Berserk, Ninja Scroll, Mind Games, Genocyber, Blood the Last Vampire, Photon, Fist of the North Star, MD Geist, Akira, Ghost in the Shell... the list goes on and on. I guess i should've listed the ones I don't like, oh well.

Guess what.. I just got the Dragonball Z Season 1 DVD Remastered set today!
I'm starting to collect them now; since I want them instead of my old VHS tapes!
Will be watching DBZ more often now; if I can start buying more Seasons on DVD... since I'm working this summer by cutting grass for $20 a week!
Also still got to get Inuyasha Seasons 1, 2, 5, & 7 on DVD... to go with my other seasons; & so I can watch each season for a full 4th time! Watching them on the laptop doesn't cut it for me!
