Planetes is another series I've heard a lot of good things about. Need to see it somewhere between my stupid comedy parody and 12 year old save the world shonen style anime.

I'm half way through part one of Shikabane Hime and I must say it's great stuff. Some great comedy moments in it, which I wasn't really expecting.

Oh, I never finished Shikabane Hime. Or is it different from Shikabane Hime AKA? I watched up to episode 12 or something then forgot about it. Lol Kind of want to finish it.

The box just says Shikabane Hime Corpse Princess part one eps 1-13. Might be AKA Corpse Princess though.

I'm currently watching .hack//SIGN and I'm about halfway through. I must say, this show really hit the spot. I've been having dreams of being in an MMO, exploring strange lands, fighting monster, etc. so this is like, what my mind has been waiting for, if you know what I mean. The setting and the art direction are beautiful, I kinda wish they explored the world a bit more just so we can see more it. And the music is fantastic, with a lot of good engrish lyrics. I'm totally getting the soundtrack once I have some extra money. The star of the show is the story, though, and I must say, it's very fanscinating. It's about a boy who is trapped inside a Virtual Reality MMO, playing it constantly for days, and while he's there, he meets some people who become his friends and try to figure out why he's stuck in the game, among other mysteries. The show is set within the game, only showing snippets of the real world. The Main character, Tsukasa, is fairly annoying, at least so far, but every other character is likeable and interesting. The only real downside to this show, in my opinion, is that it's slow. Almost Eureka Seven slow. There's hardly any action either. All of these would be bigger problems if it were an action anime, but it's not. It's more of a mystery, kind of, or maybe it's best described as a character-driven drama. Either way, the pacing suites the show rather than hinder it, and luckily I'm in the mood for something slow-paced.

Since this is a great board for recommendations, can anyone tell me what the Power Stone anime is like? I'm on a bit of a Power Stone spree, and I've discovered this anime of it, but I wanna know other people's opinions before I could potentionally ruin this franchise for me irrevocably lol.

Eh, it's okay. The Voice acting is kinda bad though. As far as Capcom anime go, Power Stone's one of the better ones.

Yes, those are real screen-grabs from the 14th episode of Digimon Xros Wars: Young Hunters. Yes, my Nerdgasm meter is broken.

I've got Rumbling Hearts coming in the post. Any good?

I just finished .hack//SIGN. My opinion of the show didn't change much - the story was amazing throughout, with lots of symbolism and deep characterization. The art and music also remained incredible. (Glad I got the soundtrack) Tsukasa stopped being annoying, too, so no more complaints about the cast. The only thing I didn't like was the anticlmactic ending - They killed the "final boss" by simply erasing the entire field, forcing everyone out of the game, including Tsukasa, who met up with Subaru in the real world and they had an overly dramatic scene together. Then They showed that the big bad was still alive.

Still, the rest of the final episode was great, and at least they set up the beginning of the games, so it all went well. All in all, this is a show that reminded me why I watch anime, and it one I won't soon forget.

It's been recomended to me before, but I've never actually seen it. All I know is that it's based on an Eroge game, which doesn't say much either way.

So is Fate/Stay Night, isn't it? And that anime turned out very well IMO

Yeah, and other examples as well that turned out good, like Kanon, but then there are plenty of examples that turned out bad, like School Days. I'm just saying that you can't really tell how good or bad it is just from that little detail.

Rumbling Hearts (KgNE FTW!) is a wonderful show, as long as you can look past the huge gaping logic hole in Episode 3 and enjoy the rest of the show. But still, please don't judge the show on its first two episodes alone, trust me!

I'm here with some bad news: Bandai-Entertainment is effectively pulling out of the anime .... While this may not mean much to some, to mecha fans such as myself, this horrible news, as B-E was the main distributer of Mecha anime in America. This means no more Eureka Seven, no more Code Geass, no more Gurren Lagann, and of course no more Gundam. We also lose out on non-Mecha anime, too, such as Haruhi and K-On, but those are more likely to be picked up by other distributers than the Mecha.

Worst of all, now I have no choice but to break down and watch crappy fansubs of Gundam AGE (which is very good so far, but the translation is...spotty, at best).

On a lighter note, does anyone else have those shows where they find themselves saying "just one more episode, just one more episide" until before you know it you've watched 6 or more episodes? I always do that with Gundam (for instance, I watched 6 episodes of Gundam AGE back to back and the only reason I stopped was because I ran out of episodes), and occasionally with other shows like Hunter X Hunter (where I watched 7 episodes back to back).

I've purposely avoided doing that by (usually) just watching one anime episode a day.

I heard about Bandai a little while ago. This probably happened because Haruhi fans are usually part of the entitlement part of the anime fanbase. (who are like half of the reason I hated most fans for a while)

Oh man. That's really sad news about Bandai...I love K-on and Mecha animes. D: And like Haruhi. Hopefully a good amount of their animes get picked up by other distributors.
Also, bit off topic, but seems like the Shakugan no Shana manga has stopped coming to America. I can't find anything on it but vol. 7 hasn't come out yet and it's been over 2 years. I was hoping to spend this Barns and Nobles gift card on it. So far their selection of manga sucks too. May not end up using it.

Sounds good.
While I wait for that to arrive, I've started watching Negima. Pretty funny so far. Terrible English accent on Negi though. So funny!

In my opinion, there's only about 3% of good manga/anime. It might be my taste, I don't know. But seriously, who would buy a manga called The Prince of Tennis?!
