Just finished watching all of Haruhi. Loved every minute of it. Watched it in DVD order and it's quite coherent, but watching series 1 and 2 together probably helped a bit with that. Loved Disappearance, too.

Cool, what was your favorite part and/or aspect?

The overall theme of Haruhi's will making things happen was very interesting. Favourite part was probably the endless eight episodes. I liked the way they built up to their conclusion even though they were about the same thing each time. But I also liked the movie episode a lot and anything with Nagato and Kyon talking.

Wow, most people hate the Endless Eight. I'm glad you found it more interesting than most. It did have its merits, after all.

So, anyone here watch Fairy Tail? I just watched every episode on Hulu, now I'm reading the manga.

It was great, just everything about it.

I'm a huge Fairy Tail fan. I have watched every current episode and read every current manga chapter. It's one of my favorite anime/manga series along with One Piece. What are you favorite characters/arcs of the series so far?

In other news, I received the entire Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo series on DVD in the mail from Amazon yesterday. I can't wait to watch those series and Claymore (whenever it comes in the mail).

Endless Eight had a lot of problems but it lead to cool fans making a lot of good youtube videos and lame whiny fans crying themselves to sleep so it worked out in the end.

@SigourneyBeaver Endless eight was one of your favourite parts? Wow, thats surprising. Like a lot of people I hated it. I was hoping that they would've at least tried to give us an ending that made it worth going through the same thing 8 freakin times.

I liked the Endless Eight arc as well. It's part of the Haruhi franchise's signature 'wackiness' - any other series wouldn't get away with it, but Haruhi Suzumiya... it's Haruhi. Of course they had a batch of practically identical episodes, screwing with the status quo is just what it does. Series 2 was pretty much just an expansion pack to series 1; any other series that would've been crucified. But here... it's Haruhi. They could make Series 3 just 8 half-hour loops of the Nyan Cat gif with various character's heads superimposed on it, and I wouldn't bat an eyelid. Probably would watch it, too.
The movie was probably my favourite part of the whole series; it's just masterful. Time travel plot is a massive personal bonus too, being a massive time travel junkie. Absolutely phenomenal film.

Endless Eight is a bit different. I've not seen anything like it in any other series and I wasn't aware of it before I started watching series 2, so with a completely open mind I ended up liking it. Different parts of the story are focused on in each episode, Kyon's suspicions come in quite gradually and it built up to the conclusion well, I thought. The only part that did begin to grate was the discussion between Kyon, Asahina, Koizumi and Nagato. Apart from that I enjoyed the novelty of it.

@Knux
I really like Erza, she is an epic character thus, the Tower of Heaven arc was my favorite, but keep in mind I have yet to finish the Anime or Manga, I'm working on it though
What about you, Whos your favorite Character? I would ask your favorite arc, but I'm sorta afraid of spoilers

Ever heard of Twin Spica? It's the best manga I've ever read. It's about astronauts.

It's really hard for me to pick out just one certain favorite character. There are so many likeable characters in Fairy Tail that it is not even laughable. But I have several favorite characters. They are Natsu, Erza, Gray, and Ultear.

My favorite arc is one you probably have not seen yet, so I won't spoil it. The Tower of Heaven Arc is my second favorite arc though. Which arc are you currently in?

A Slice of Life about Astronauts. I want to see that now. Have you seen Planetes? It's got similar themes and whatnot.

Cool.

I knew people like that in HS but never knew their was turn for them. they're sadly the main reason I became for the most part anti anime/manga. (wasn't great for a social life). That and that they thought Manga was the greatest form of Graphic Novel out. (it isn't by a huge margin)

Anywho going to watch Eden of the east later on today.

I don't think it's the best idea to make fun of weeaboos only to point out how you know more about graphic novels than them. It's like making fun of people for being Yugioh experts who obsess over a card game and then taking out a gigantic collection of 5 different card games. I get what you're trying to say but this could backfire incredibly easily.

Actually, Manga has a Huge lead as far as mature and varied storylines go. Sure, there are more Graphic Novels nowadays that lack the generic super-hero themes that plague both genres, but find a Graphic Novel as great as Monster, 20th Century Boy, One Piece (I know this one's a hard sell, but it does have an intricate storyline to it if you follow it the whole way), Full Metal Alchemist, Touch, Pluto, Dragon Head, Uzumaki, and The Rose of Versailles (I've been busy lately), and maybe the weeaboos will change their tune.

I have, picked it up because of recommendations from friends who I consider to have great tastes in stories. Why do you ask? Recommendations?

Yep.

Been mulling it over for a while now after hearing the 11 o'clock comic guys gushing over it.

I hear its more noir than regular astro boy fare.
