Toonami Saturday night!

DBZ Kai - The classic (and not to mention epic) battle between Goku & Vegeta has begun! Vegeta has our hero on the ropes, but Goku has something up his sleeve

Kill la Kill - Pretty much what I've come to expect from this series by now. Not to say that it was bad (it was indeed fun), but not as good as previous weeks.

Naruto Shippuden - Just when it looks like Naruto is starting to make strides in his training, his group is called off to a mission. We're also introduced to a group of mysterious new enemies.

InuYasha: The Final Act - Broken in a recent battle, Sango gets Hiraikotsu (the giant boomerang) fixed up by a potion master, which provides her with her only combat upgrade in the entire series. Also, Miroku is given a temporary fix to stop the pain from his growing curse (but it only dulls the pain, not fix it). Oh, and drunk InuYasha (who seemed a bit happy that there were "two" Kagomes, from his point of view).

Gurren Lagann - The final battle has begun! Things aren't going well for our heroes though, as there are quite a few tearful goodbyes.

One Piece - Get's surprisingly bloody as Chopper puts up quite the fight. He makes a desperate move in an attempt to match his opponent. We'll see next week if he succeeds.

Also, they showed a clip of the upcoming film, Chappie, and reviewed Dying Light (PS4/XBO) - 7.5/10.

Chappie could be interesting. District 9 is one of my all-time favorite sci-fi films, but Elysium was hot garbage. Blomkamp has a great talent, but it can be misguided. I'll probably check it out.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

Yeah, I'm interested in Chappie too.

Though, I'll admit I haven't really sat down to watch District 9, and I didn't care for Elysium when my bro & I went to see it in theaters.

It maybe fun but it starts to get annoying later on. Its basically the same thing with tiring gags, no sense of getting close to the goal and worse, its something that isn't well executed in terms of strength and abilities. But if you want humor, it definitely has that quite a lot.

I want to know if its worth watching Sailor Moon because from the looks of it, its all girly and I want to know if it can also cater to male characters as well.

Canis, you're confused. He's asking if Sailor Moon is good. Instead, you could focus on...

@CanisWolfred can you accept the thin characters that have strength and yet are to be realistic? I can't even find that funny.

And in terms of the story, it starts out interesting and then it just drags very long because of the action being so damm long.

Shows like City Hunter don't have the action that lasts long, has the gags that are dry but still feels fresh because every story is original. I know it has to do with the arcs in One Piece but Dragon Ball which suffers the same fate as One Piece had believable characters and the action is straightforward unlike in One Piece where the author struggles to keep the characters alive inorder to make them win some battles that is otherwise impossible for them to do.

@kkslider5552000 look man, Just an honest opinion would do ok. I just want to know if Sailor Moon can cater to the Male audience as well so that I don't end up being embarrassed and all.

Dude, you're asking whether or not you should watch a show made for little girls. Not that there's anything wrong with you taking an interest in that, but it should be pretty self-explanatory. It's a show for little girls. It caters to little girls. There is nothing in it specifically designed to appeal to boys, little or big. A lot of shows take on an audience that the creators didn't originally intend though, see Powerpuff Girls and (egh) My Little Pony.

Do you generally enjoy entertainment that is designed for little girls? If yes, then check out Sailor Moon.

It's a fantasy world where they've keenly established that even regular human beings are incredibly difficult to kill, where medicine boils down to "bandages fix everything", and people can get super powers from fruit and/or lots of push-ups. You are taking this way too seriously. I mean, hell, at least One Piece consistantly grounds itself, even if that grounding is the top of Mount Everest...

Also, Rage of Bahamut: Genesis is still amazing. I can't believe I forgot to go back to it until now.

@CanisWolfred So its ok to not take One piece seriously but its not ok to not take Mario so seriously? I know Mario isn't anime but the fact that he looks like he could be in anime and since Miyamoto originally wanted to be a Manga artist, I think its only fair to argue Mario's logic here.

Atleast City Hunter has logic that can realistically happen unlike in One Piece where a rubber man uses his blood to defeat hard bosses and still expects us to believe he can live after such a fight. Even Goku makes realistic sense.

The thing about Anime is that everything is approached realistically and not in the cartoon sense. So even shows like Doramon or Dragon Ball take the real approach rather than the cartoon approach.

1. InuYasha: the Final Act - It offered a conclusion of my personal favorite anime of all time, so I'm bound to love it, even if it's a bit compressed.

2. Sword Art Online - I loved the trapped in an RPG setting, the animation quality & settings were superb. Yeah, the main character was OP, but other than a few cringeworthy moments in the second half, I just found myself enjoying this show all the time.

3. Space Dandy - Naturally, certain episodes were hit or miss, but it was never anywhere near bad at it's "worst", and when it was funny, it was VERY funny. I just found myself very endeared to the characters by the time it was done.

4. Soul Eater - While some of the art/character design choices weren't to my liking, the quality of the animation itself was fantastic no doubt, and the characters were likeable (or at least very memorable). I'd definitely say I had fun watching this.

5. Kill la Kill - I'm just getting into the groove of this series, so it'll probably change (in the upwards direction) as I get into it. Anyhow, it's zany/energetic in all the right ways, has very crisp/smooth animation, and memorable characters.

6. Blue Exorcist - This should be higer on my list, because it checkmarks so many things I like in anime. It's well animated, has a grounded art/character design, has a nice balance of lightheartedness to seriousness, and a nice cast of characters. However, for the life of me, I just can't get over the fact that the hero is supposed to be the son of the devil (I know, I know, it's just a TV show). If it were any other random "demon", I probably could have gotten into this. It is really well made, though.

7. Attack on Titan - Just to get this out of the way, I haven't seen all of it, but I have seen a good amount of it, so I'm going to give my impressions from what I've seen. I just wasn't terribly impressed with the thing. The attention to detail was breathtaking, but for somereason, I just couldn't get into how the characters looked (it wasn't their design, which was fine, it's just that they had extra thick outlines, which felt "off" to me). That last bit wasn't a big turn off though, just a small personal nit-pick. The story, to me, is what didn't do it for me. It just felt like "OMG giant zombies", and kind of hit at the right time to grab onto the zombie fad. (that's not to say the show doesn't have a unique take on the idea, because it certainly does. It's just that it's one I've never been fond of).

I know that's not a full 10 (and some shows are a year or two older than asked for), but I hope that's okay.

1) What?
2) WHAT?! Seriously, do you understand what you're saying right now, because I sure don't. Seriously, how did Mario get into this conversation?!
3) City Hunter is set in a close approximation to the real world. Of course it's gonna be a bit more realistic, it would be weird otherwise.
4) it was established beforehand that Luffy can heal himself instantaneaously by eating meat, and does so repeated throughout the story. Another character even explains how its possible in great detail. That is how you ground things in a fantasy setting - it doesn't have to make sense in the context of the real world, it just has to be consistant. So of course he could use his own blood to fight a sand man, all he has to do is eat some meat afterwords and he'll be fine.
5) Are we talking about the same Goku who repeatedly uses his head to fight enemies in the hopes that his head is harder than his opponent's stomach and/or doesn't miss and go careening into a solid wall? (Seriously, who did you think inspired Luffy's borderline insanity?)
6) (Even though I deleted it by accident) No. There are plenty of zany, cartoon-y, even nonsensicle anime that make cartoons look sane in comparison. Even serious shows will do things that are unrealistic or require some suspension of disbelief. Citing Dragon Ball as a source of realistic actions is borderline trolling, it's so incorrect.

@Artwark Please don't pollute this thread with your weird, misguided rants. You've made 800 other threads for that purpose. Use one of those.

It pains me that I cannot include the Monogatari series in my top 10, as it started in July 2009. Oh well. I'll cheat.

10. Kids on the Slope
9. Durarara!
8. Another
7. From the New World
6. Magical Girl Madoka
5. Psycho-Pass
4. Monogatari Series: Second Season
3. Fate/Zero
2. Steins;Gate
1. Barakamon

When the first 90 seconds of an anime features a close-up slow-mo shot of a guy punching an old man with a cane in the face, you know it's gonna be good.

Edit: Just checked out jlist.com, Steins;Gate cost $29.95.Getting it on my b-day.
