And why is the us release of Hanasaku Iroha not aviable in a normal edition? Not everyone can afford an expensive special version

'Cause they're pre-orders. Gonna have to wait until a few months after it's out (which is this week).

They are releasing normal version today? Or next week? Or do you think about the blu ray version of the movie?

Psycho-Pass 2 is off to a decent start, though at this point it seems more like Ghost in the Shell than the first season of PP.

No, I mean the premium edition releases this week. You got a bit to wait before they release the standard edition. Could be next week, could be longer. I don't pay enough attention to NIS, but I've noticed they've recently liked to do "premium-only pre-orders", which Nozomi and Aniplex USA also do quite often.

Great forum.

I guess my question could be in one of these 500+ pages, so bear with me:

Are there any sci-fi anime like Kill la Kill, or any demoniac anime like Death Note (my favorite). Also, I like Ghost in the Shell, and fighting anime like Ju JU Hakusho.?

Suggestions, please?

maceng

GuSolarFlare

@maceng my quick recommendations
for sci-fi try Stein's;Gate, Psycho Pass or Suisei no Gargantia
demonic Blue Excorcist or Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro
similar to Yu Yu Hakusho....... try Shaman King(it's also about spirits and pretty good) or Hunter X Hunter(same author)

If you mean "anime that deals in the Occult", then Yes...just, yes...I wouldn't even know where to start.

If you mean an anime that stars an anti-hero, with strong attempts at featuring battles of wits, while also including demons into the fold, then I'll say "probably", but I can't think of any at the moment...

Movie or the series? If you want something like the movie, I know a few that strike similar cords. I haven't actually watched the series in chronicle order yet, though...and I had a lot of trouble getting into the episodes I did watch.

Hunter X Hunter. Drop everything and watch it now. Same manga writers ("Mangaka"), though personally I think I vastly prefer HxH, which is saying something considering Yu Yu Hakusho is still one of my all-time favorite anime, especially after rewatching it last year.

There's also One Piece, but that's the mother of all time investments.

BTW, as general recommendations:

Cowboy Bebop
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
Trigun

Thanks,
I saw Blue Exorcist. In my opinion, it was a wasted opportunity. They could have done so much more, but decided to end it too rushly.

I'm watching Hunter x Hunter and like it a lot.

Looking forward to all off your suggestions. Thanks a lot!!

I'm looking for something in the lines along the movie for Ghost in the Shell.

Regarding Death Note, yes, I'm trying to find something exactly along those lines: demos, battles of wits, surprises. The only thing I didn't like about it was the end....
Thanks to you too!!

NIS looks like has at least a few animes I want to own, too bad they are too expensive. Yay for Norway, forcing me to pay 25% of the price to our country, and a heck of a handeling tax, if the dvd/blu ray costs more than around 30$ US -.-

Their reason is allmoste a joke in my case, they are doing it to protect the Norwegian echonomy, fair enough, but as good as NONE of the DVDs I want (from any genre) is released here! Looks like my best bet is to hope for an british release, they tend to not include extra stuff tha makes the price higher

GuSolarFlare

@maceng for battle of wits try One Outs or Kaiji
they have no demons but the "mental battles" are pretty good and clever

@maceng Kill la Kill continues the style of anime like FLCL and Gurren Lagann. If you like one, you'll probably like all three.

If you liked Ghost in the Shell, consider checking out Akira and Battle Angel for movies and Psycho-Pass and Ergo Proxy for series. All of them deal with cyberpunk/dystopian settings.

CanisWolfred

Akira was definitely one of the ones I wanted to mention. Also, Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade should be worth checking out. Loved that one.

Actually, I've been meaning to watch the GitS movie again, so maybe I'll do that later before I recommend anything else.

Attack on Titan - I apparently missed an Armin scene, which is a shame as he's easily the best of the 3 main characters. Honestly, the main things that stuck out, by a country mile were Levi's scene and the last few minutes. Levi being awesome was just...um...awesome. But wow that ending. It made the soldiers more sympathetic than ANY of the deaths imo. That was harsh.

Armin is like the most useless and annoying out of the three who brings nothing to the table.

terrible opinion. And just wrong regardless. Armin is the strategist and has come through for everyone several times now in some way or another. I mean, the most definitive victory arguably was that time he got everyone to simultaneously kill like...6(?) Titans at the same time. And quite frankly, he is usually the only one of the main 3 that thinks through their actions. He is a loyal as **** friend and everytime he's complaining or willing to give up, he's almost always gotten past that in order to help, despite being the weakest of the mine trio. In general, Armin is just way more relate-able.

@kkslider5552000 I have to agree with you on that. Armin is really one of the best characters in the show. Eren is probably one of the worst and most boring in my opinion. He's like in the backseat compared to the better characters like Levi or Armin...

So I've heard that Naruto is ending in a month. Kinda daunting considering how long it's been around. I used to watch it some and lost interest but I wouldn't mind coming back to finish it... Except there's no way I can get through the whole series in a month.
