So I was bored at work and started looking around on ebay and now have a very strong impulse to import about $900 worth of blu rays. This would be a horrible financial decision, but there is no one around me right now to physically restrain me. I fear I may be in danger of actually completing this purchase.
Also, bringing up Gagantia reminded me of how awesome Tomokazu Sugita is. One of the best male VAs in the industry, IMO. His deadpan is hilarious. I really need to get back into Gintama. Only guy more fun to listen to that I can think of is Norio Wakamoto.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
What is a good romance anime that will make me feel even worse about myself?
Cheer up, bud. Ef: A Tale of Memories. The story involves 3 male protagonists and their interactions with the girls they meet and fall in love with. Must warn you its pretty slow-paced.
So I'm at that point where I can't find any anime to watch, and I'm sorta willing to try anything. I need to fill the void that Princess Jellyfish left since nothing this season is doing it for me.
Does anyone have some random suggestions for me? (I like comedy, romance, sci-fi, slice of life, and stuff like that.)

Sir Zacharias Barnham is my new husband.
Konata -> Arianabtd
@Konata - Would you be interested in Aria the Animation? It's a sci-fi slice of life with some romance and comedy and stuff like that, about a girl on a boat, which happens to be on Mars, which also happens to look like Venice for some reason.
If you just want a straight romance, Ao Haru Ride is pretty recent and comes from a respected studio. If you want to reflect on romances that will never be, you gotta go with 5cm per Second, and the rest of Makoto Shinkai's catalogue. If you want to wallow in self pity, I'd recommend Aku no Hana, although things do get weirder as you go deeper and the anime has an odd art style so you might want to try the manga instead. I'd also recommend Durarara, which is not strictly a romance but a lot of the arcs involve the notion of love and relationships going horribly wrong.
Also, if you like music, I'd recommend both Beck which is about 90's rock and Kids on the Slope which is focused on jazz. Both are pretty great.
always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)
I think if anyone is at all interested in battles that are just as much about moving chess pieces as they are about flashy swordsmanship, and shounen protagonists that have a depth beyond "I win because I fight for my friends," they owe it to themselves to check out Fate/Stay night this season. Even if you don't care about those other things and just want to watch awesome fights, there's plenty to see.
It can get a little confusing with all the different spin-offs and the old adaptation done by a different studio, so anyone looking to just get into it now, what you should do is just ignore everything else and watch Ufotable's Fate/Stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, which is a series airing now. Next year, there will be Fate/Stay night: Heaven's Feel, a movie, which will retell certain events to fill in story gaps. After that, there's Ufotable's Fate/Zero, which aired in 2011, but it is a prequel and assumes you've seen F/SN already. Everything else is either non-canon or optional side stories in alternate "what if" scenarios.

Kids on the Slope is fantastic. It's what got me into jazz music.
I'd also suggest Nodame Cantabile, which is a music anime about classical. Both it and Kids on the Slope are shoujo/josei though, so you need to go into them with a soft heart.
And yes, everyone should watch Durarara and Baccano.
Attack on Titan - I apparently missed an Armin scene, which is a shame as he's easily the best of the 3 main characters. Honestly, the main things that stuck out, by a country mile were Levi's scene and the last few minutes. Levi being awesome was just...um...awesome. But wow that ending. It made the soldiers more sympathetic than ANY of the deaths imo. That was harsh. Bleach -eh, maybe next week Shippuden - idunno One Piece - A cyborg used fart power to fly towards the outside. Two giants defended a sumo frog from marines. Guys in questionable outfits acted as jurors by throwing ball and chains at pirates to make them guilty. These are all things that happened in this episode. Also, love that shot at the end, everyone standing on the edge. Gurren Lagann - Controversy, I don't think Kamina was that great. Like the overly manliness of it all didn't feel dumb enough when you're following One Piece. The good stuff was good but I have a feeling this needed to happen to make the series...what it is. Hellsing Ultimate - I stopped watching at the last commercial break but it was just ok from what I actually got to see.

It always feels so 'normal' when I'm watching this show until someone writes about it and I realize how messed up everything really is haha. Gotta love those jurors, they are awesome and somehow this classic shot of Zoro taking the wrong turn always springs to mind.

Armin is like the most useless and annoying out of the three who brings nothing to the table.

try Toradora, School Rumble or some shoujo anime(like lovely complex, tonari no kaibutsu-kun or bokura ga ita) those will definitely bring you down(considering what I know about your situation)
ok, School rumble won't make you feel too bad because it's really funny.
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

Anime DVDs I'm gonna buy this year:
Usagi Drop (UK version)
K-ON season 2 part 1 (UK version)
Oreimo season 2 (AU when its released, the US version too expensive)
Ristorante paradiso (us version)
True tears (us version)
And why is the us release of Hanasaku Iroha not aviable in a normal edition? Not everyone can afford an expensive special version
