Topic: Animation Parodies using Nintendo Characters.

Hello.

I have a question about using Nintendo characters in a sprite animation parodies. I wanted to make a little Sprite animation parody about a Mario Odyssey mission, and I was wondering do I need to have a license or fill a form to make the animation? I know Mario is copyrighted by Nintendo and you have to ask for permission to use a copyrighted character or material, but I've seen YouTube channels using Mario and other Nintendo characters in parodies without getting copyright striked or questioned by Nintendo.

Some channels that use Mario:
Dorky - uses Mario sprites from videogames.
SMG4 - uses Mario 3D models.
SuperMarioLogan - uses Mario plushies.

Sorry if this question is out of proportion, but I just wanted to if I'm able to or not.
