I have to have technology to some degree for school. My college has some classes that are completely online and some classes that are face to face, the instructor still wants you to submit assignments online, because he doesn't want to deal with all that paper. My Laptop is my life right now as a college student.
There is nothing wrong with young people having all the luxuries that they do in today's society, but I feel it is important that they are bought up to understand the value of these luxuries and be grateful. This responsibility ultimately falls to the parents, it is all to easy nowadays to stick the kids in front of the box with a gaming console to keep them quiet for a few hours and keep them out of your hair, but parents should make more effort to teach kids the value of life and what they have got, it will only help them as they reach adulthood and have to fend for themselves in the big ol' world.
I live up on Long Island, and we never get hurricanes up here. Actually, in terms of natural disasters, I think Long Island and Manhattan are some of the safest regions in America.
No TV: I don't even watch TV (internet streaming = win), so this shouldn't be a problem.
No Console Games: I'm kinda Okay with that, but I'll eventually cave into PC emulation at some point.
No Computer: It's either no console games or no computer. Can't be both.
No Internet: I think I'd cave in.
