Because most of EA's money comes from casual dudebro gamers.
Of all the people I know who play video games, about 75% are in this category. They pay no attention to the games industry at all. But then buy FIFA every year, buy a multiplayer shooter every year, and buy every Rockstar game that comes out. That's it. They ignore everything else.
EA very successfully targets this group of people.
Is that a bad thing though?
Not for the most part. But it does mean they can get away with more bad products than they otherwise would because a large chunk of their audience is buying their stuff before checking the quality.
@Rexenolith It could be that in return Microsoft gets their subscriptions on Switch (e.g. Game Pass). Like look at MCC on Steam for example, Valve gets the Halo classics on their platform meanwhile Microsoft gets more Xbox Live accounts and more people playing Halo games.
That actually got Keanu Reeves at E3. That's pretty cool.
-They also showed off way too many Indie games for me to keep up with, but whatever, they all can be summed up as "visually creative games that I'm not sure I actually want to play?"
I mean, that's not the worst thing in the world. I did just get Game Pass on PC, so I guess I could at least try them.
...and then Buy them on the Switch if they're actually any good.
-As somebody who has bought Age of Empire II 3 times already...can we have a new one? Please?
-Oh well, at least we got to see some Wastelands 3.
-I can't tell if that Double Fine guy is trying to be funny, or if Microsoft has his family tied up the basement of their headquarters...
-Apparently making funny mocap faces constitutes as trailer footage now.
Other random thoughts on games:
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, game will probably disappoint me like 99% of the other Dragon Ball games, but I'm enough of a weeb to be excited for it, anyways.
Battletoads exists.
Ori and the Blind Fore- I mean uh...Will of the Wisps? Is hype.
Groundhog day game has great voice acting. It'd probably make for a good audio book.
Way of the Woods - "what if God of War, but Boi was Bambi?"
Gears finally dropped the "of War" part, finally! Now I know longer have to be reminded it exists whenever I look up God of War memes.
Hang on Forza Horizon 4 trailer is playing, now's a perfect time to catch up on The Outer Worlds trailer that I missed.
...wait, it's still going? I guess I check out the Samurai Shodown DLC character...
....Yeah, I forgot how little I care about Microsoft's owned properties. I think I'm just gonna check out-
PHANTASY STAR ONLINE 2
TALES OF ARISE
Borderlands 2 new DLC better also be free on other platforms...
And I don't have anything quippy to say about Elden Rings. That was just a really cool trailer. What a way to end it.
...it is over, right? They didn't just waste 10 minutes talking about XCloud and doing everything in their power to avoid actually showing anything relevent in a Halo trailer, right???
pretty good conference. next consoles specs sound really good. this gen was a pure letdown hardware wise. good new even for pc gamers that next gen is looking much more powerful with zen 2 and navi with ray tracing. cant wait.
I watched. It was entertaining enough, but yet again, the lack of actual gameplay seen in all of that was pretty substantial, and when they started talking about Scarlet and said the next generation is all about... loading times... the anti-climax was real. Don't get me wrong, seamless worlds are great, but you ain't gonna win my heart with the phrase 'loading times'.
But then I allowed myself to imagine the next Halo at Scarlet launch could win me over... until they showed zero gameplay.
And yeah, I fell for that Miyamoto ****, so that didn't help.
Glad others are saying the LEGO expansion for FH4 was their highlight, cos it was mine too, although admittedly that song is an instant win for me so I'm not the best judge
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
I'm most interested in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, Tales of Arise, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, the LEGO Star Wars game, and maybe Fantasy Star Online 2, Cyberpunk 2077, & that game with the deer, but naturally would be getting them on PS4.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
Thought it was good, definitely not great. Peaked in the middle at Cyberpunk really came back. Pretty underwhelming overall to be fair. Saw a bunch I'm excited to play, but will probably all be on PS4. Obviously Forza expansion is exciting to me, Minecraft Dungeons/Lego Skywalker are def buys to play with my kids, and it's good to get confirmation of when next gen is going to start. Lack of solid xCloud info was a disappointment too.
I thinking now it might be battletoads in smash could happen they are a rare game from the nes days so it might it still looked like a possible switch game

I thought it was ok overall. I mean, it had something to appeal to lots of different genres, and that’s really the best message anyway. I was hoping to hear more about xCloud, but its launch is close enough. I wouldn’t say I’m missing my X1, though.
Guess in a few hours we’ll see what Bethesda is putting Skyrim on next. I’m guessing a TI-86
