Because most of EA's money comes from casual dudebro gamers.
Of all the people I know who play video games, about 75% are in this category. They pay no attention to the games industry at all. But then buy FIFA every year, buy a multiplayer shooter every year, and buy every Rockstar game that comes out. That's it. They ignore everything else.
EA very successfully targets this group of people.
I feel sorry for the developers at EAs studios. They must want to make good games, but then get told by the bosses at the top to make certain features microtransactions, or don't put the full game on this system.
Anyway, with EAs conference out the way, we can start to focus on Microsoft's. Personally, I do think there will be a Nintendo Switch announcement, but I doubt it'll be Rare Replay or a new Banjo Kazooie. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I'd imagine it will be a smaller game, something like Cuphead.
I also expect to see Forza Horizon 4s second expansion. Whatever that is, it should be good. Whether it's Hot Wheels 2 or a full new area, it should be worth the price of the DLC.
I don't see Microsoft revealing many, if any new games this year. If they are detailing Xbox Scarlett, they'll want to develop games for that, and not the One. I'd expect updates on previously announced games, such as Halo Infinite and Cyberpunk 2077.
I fully expect Microsoft's conference to be good. It won't be anything amazing, but it won't be bad either. I'll probably watch the first 45 minutes and if I'm interested, I might watch more.
@Matthew010
EA still made me disappointed by not mentioning The Sims 4 for Nintendo Switch after i watched EA Play 2019 for The Sims 4 session. 😔
The new Expansion packs and stuffs from The Sims 4 were just for PC, PS4 & Xbox One (They said for PC and home console actually but i still have a little bit hope they meant the home console had a chance for Nintendo Switch).
I will wait the chance from Nintendo Direct 11 June 2019 later.
Btw, who is EA Big Boss right now?
It looked like EA was lead by "Jafar" instead by "Princess Jasmine".
I know people like to rag on EA, but there's a reason why EA opted out for a presentation away from E3 and having these EA Play days. They don't have the portfolio that's varied enough to fill a show. They finally understand this.
Still, they are in dire need of a shake up. They actually want out on the Star Wars deal, (or at least its implied), Battlefield V took a hit, the FUT gets more debated.. yikes.

@Anti-Matter Well, I don't know if it's him or him and other people making the decisions. Either way, a new face could easily make way for a new reputation.
I agree, today MS is going to focus on its own things (gamepass, teases for Scarlet and it’s own games), if we see some announcement for Switch it probably will be during the Direct, when they know people that are Nintendo fans (and plus potencial customers) will be watching.
@Luna_110 They could have it in both like Ubisoft announcing Mario + Rabbids at the Ubisoft conference in 2017 didn't stop there being a Mario + Rabbids segment in the Nintendo Spotlight E3 2017.

Is that a bad thing though?
No, as long as it doesn't effect other parts of the industry and they still throw the rest of us the occasional bone. As far as I'm concerned, EA got their annual embarassment out of the way early so we could focus on games that actually matter to people who don't think video games are just scrap books for their digital NFL card collection.
I'll be curious to see if Bethesda will be announcing anything else for Switch tonight. Doom Eternal, Elder Scrolls Blades, and Elder Scrolls Legends were announced last year. But I'd like to see more. Switch ports for Prey, Dishonored, and The Evil Within would be swell. Fallout 3 or Fallout 4 would be amazing, but I doubt either of those are happening.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,536 games (as of December 14th, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
I've been a Bethesda fan, but lately they've been screwing the pooch hard & fast, and last year's E3 presentation turned out to be nothing but lies...I think I'll skip their presentation this year.
Bethesda's screwing over everyone, PC/Xbox/Playstation over stuff like RAGE 2 and Fallout 76 meanwhile Switch about "physical" versions. I wouldn't be surprised if DOOM Eternal gets the Wolfenstein Youngblood treatment (Switch physical version is a download code in a box).
