@Haru17 I don't think sexism has anything to do with it. Pretty sure NEStalgia would be just as happy to use a similar insult for an irritating male host.
I don't know the guy at all on a personal level, so who knows, maybe he's an extreme misogynist, but I didn't get a sexist vibe from that. Could be wrong, though.
Treating people equally is an entirely different thing than treating them nicely Haru. Those have almost nothing to do with each other. For it to be sexism, you'd have to know that he wouldn't have said the same about a male host in the same situation, which is something you don't know.
@Haru17 uhmm, who violated your corn flakes this morning? You're the only one who seems to have a gender obsession on this. The problem had nothing to do with gender and everything to do with an annoying personality being an annoying personality that was over the top for the presentation. Just as many annoying personalities have graced many e3 stages for many years. Again, i reiterate my comparison to mr. Caffeine. It's a corporate push to find someone "cool" that fits their idea of what "the kids are into these days" and usually fails predictably hard.
For annoying male hosts various other words would be more appropriate, though probably less moderator friendly.
This whole dialog feels like a Coonstagram update from the South Park principal manifesting in reality.
If you're curious, women i watched with were calling for "someone shut her up already"
Don't take offense to this Haru, because you're a cool guy as far as I can tell, but few things irritate me more than someone doing something negative towards a woman and then that immediately gets turned into a sexism accusation. You just know that would pretty much never happen if it was a man being insulted and not a woman.
It's as if women need to be covered in bubble wrap these days so that men don't accidentally step on their toes and get labeled as a sexist. Seriously, where does it end? Do women need to get put on pedastels and worshipped for sexism to no longer be a problem?
Again, this isn't an attack on anyone, it just irritates me how men need to tip-toe around women to not be labeled a sexist. Even though feminism is supposed to be about empowerment, it's the feminists who act as if women have such thin skin more than anyone.
That's good news. Large enough gap between KH3 and the September/October madness this year.
I won't be able to avoid buying Red Dead, Spyro and DQ11. No way in hell am I finishing all of those before January.
Hmmmm, I wonder if the fact that they've announced this before their official presentation was because they deliberately want to use that to focus on something else. FF7 maybe.
@Dezzy yeah they really have a lot to cover if you think about it. Tomb raider, Avengers, DQ 11 and Builders 2, I'm sure some FF14 & 15 expansions, Just Cause 4, Octopath etc. Been thinking about it today, with all of that and possibly the ff7 remake square could end up with one of the most solid conferences!
Same is true of Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony as well. This could easily be one of the best E3s in gaming history. Now EA is out of the way.
Microsoft and Nintendo especially probably have quite a lot of new games to show. Whereas Sony has a lot of new material to show, from already announced games.
You just know that would pretty much never happen if it was a man being insulted and not a woman.
No, I would not. There also isn't a culture of harassing female public figures specifically in gaming. Gamer gate doesn't exist to send death threats to men. And 'harpy' isn't a classic sexist derogatory for men. How obvious does it need to be? Do we wait for people to start describing black people as 'urban' or calling them 'boy?'
People can either be part of the yawning maw of bile that's long been present in games or act decently toward others. The fact is whenever a women stands up at an event and speaks in a way that can be perceived as annoying or disagreeable, troupes of trash send them death threats. So have some respect @NEStalgia.
@Haru17 I'm not denying that there is more sexism in gaming than there is in some other communities to a degree, but that doesn't mean that @NEStalgia is part of the trash troupe sending death threats or otherwise being sexist. Maybe harpy was an inappropriate word to use, but I don't think the fact that she was a woman had any impact on his judgement of her. Like he said himself, he would have done the same if the host was male.
I'm not saying that calling her a harpy was the right thing to do or anything like that. However, it's a bit of a leap to label someone as a "disgusting sexist" and "a terrible person" just because they used a certain word. I just think you could have called him out in a way that was a little more calm and rational, not "Shut up, you horrible misogynist pig!"
@redd214 So there is a delay after all lol. Only a few months at most, but Q1 is looking packed already.
@Dezzy GOG is their own platform, CD Projekt Red is owned by the same company that owns GOG. That would be like Valve making a game (I know it's a stretch ) and not releasing it on Steam.
@Ralizah The Last Night is going to be at MS as well, I'm looking forward to it!
Exactly, that's what I meant. That's why they wouldn't do a permanent exclusive. But Microsoft might pay for a delayed release on GOG so it could be a timed exclusive on Xbox/Windows 10 (or even just a timed Xbox exclusive so CD projekt don't lose any PC sales). It's possible, but unlikely.

None of that had a single thing to do with whether it was sexist or not. There's no evidence of a culture of harassment being SPECIFIC to gaming (it's absolutely everywhere on the internet) and no evidence that it's specific to women. The pew data on internet harassment suggests that overall men get slightly more online harassment (though women get more sexual harassment): http://www.pewinternet.org/2014/10/22/online-harassment/
@BraveLilac I think the general notion is the game has been delayed. So it's probably good to not have any negativity surrounding their conference. (Maybe)
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
I didn't think EA could do a worse conference than last year to be honest, but obviously they proved me wrong.. That was by far the most boring showing I I've ever seen in all of E3....
Also, i'd like to know who thought it'd be a good idea to, during the biggest gaming event of the year, spend 10 minutes on a mobile game.
What a disaster.
Looking forward to: No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again
If Microsoft is the one to show off Cyberpunk 2077, they'll have a good show regardless.
Imagine the rage if they've got it as a timed exclusive. That'd sure sell some consoles.
No way in hell would it be a complete exclusive. CD Projekt wouldn't do that, given how much money they make through GOG. But timed exclusive maybe.
It would be a dumb move to nuke the enthusiasm built up for one of the most anticipated games of the generation among the Sony mob just because Microsoft was willing to pay out beforehand to obtain temporary exclusivity. Rise of the Tomb Raider should be a model for why companies oughtn't do this.
It would be kind of amazing if it happened, though. Imagine the oceans of butthurt that would result.
