The second half of that US game was heart-pounding. I was sitting on my bed watching it, and when Edu scored that 3rd goal I jumped up and hit my head on the cieling. Still can't believe that disgraceful official (it was his first world cup game. Of course) but other than that, USA continues to impress me far more than I thought they would. Now, if they could just come out and play a solid first half...then we might have a team.

Offside?? Are you kidding? Can someone with a larger knowledge of Soccer/Football comment and tell me why that was offside (if possible)?

The referee blew the whistle because of a foul in the box, the Slovenians were doing just as much pushing as the Americans though, perhaps more. :/

Final moments....

There was absolutely no offside. If anything, the foul should have been on Slovenia--Micheal Bradley got fouled big time in the box--a penalty kick would have made more sense.

Going down, going down, going down...

The team needs to shape up if they ever hope to beat Slovenia (It looks like they'll need to the way this match is going), let alone stronger teams in the knockout rounds.

Sucks for England... I was hoping they would come out on top with at least one goal.

So, with the game over, here's what I've figured out about how the US can and can't make it to the next round:

If the US win their last game, they're through. If they lose it, they're done.
If the US and Algeria tie, and Slovenia beats England, the US is through. If the US and Algeria tie and England beats Slovenia, the US is out. If both games tie, then England and the US are tied for second. I don't know who wins the tiebreaker.

Also, any team that wins their last game in group C is definitely into the next round. And, aside from Solvenia, any team that loses their last game is definetely out.

Goal difference will decide.

As it stands, the USA have scored more goals and will go through in such an event. However, if the goal difference is the same, the 2nd winner will be decided BY DRAWING STRAWS!#

Still, England are used to crashing out on penalties so why not lose by a real game of chance.

So gutted right now. I want to feel pride as my boys show the world what they are capable of, but instead I have to watch players who week in week out show confidence and enthusiasm, being weighed down by the pressure of performing and then failing to. I'm disappointed, stunned, and lots of other words that wouldn't really convey the true scale of how I'm feeling right now. We're lucky to be in it still, we don't deserve to be. FFFFFFFUUUUUUUU..............

@Capello: 4-5-1/4-3-3 for the next game please. I don't know why you are unwilling to change formation. I don't know why you are unwilling to include Joe Cole. I don't know what you've done to the confidence of the team. Just please sort it out in time for the Slovenia game so we can scrape through to the knockouts. Please!!!

Yea it's no coincidence that all the world's best players can't play longs balls or shoot straight anymore. It's alright for the argies with there tippy tappy football, but it sucks for teams like England

Or perhaps the England players should stop aimlessly hoofing the ball forward after making three passes?

I'd contend that being rubbish, rather than the ball has cost England two wins.

All the teams play with the same ball.

Hasn't stopped Argentina scoring 5 goals in two games, Germany 4 in their first game, or Slovenia 3 in two games, say.
