@EaglyTheKawaiiShika probably because they found you annoying or didn't agree with one thing you said and based on that thought you are a "not so great fella".

Just a hypothesis

Is anyone else having a problem replying? When I hit Reply button on to anyone on the last page of Spaltoon 3 thread, I get tossed out of the forums to the nintendolife site page with the news. Reply button works in this thread, though. Just not in Splatoon 3 thread. Weird.

firefox, windows.

@TeaCatherine that is a good suggestion, thanks. I've now made it check when the new-post notification is sent, if the author of the new post is someone you ignore (or they are blocking you) then it won't send it.

@Grumblevolcano YouTube are external embeds, so if there are lots on a page it might take a while to load them all (but that's down to YouTube). I'm not sure what you mean by the thread disappearing as it's listed on the forum index page OK for me. Let me know if you spot that again.

@WoomyNNYes this should be fixed now. The issue was actually related to the emojis. Essentially, the service we used to host the emoji files has gone offline, so when trying to load these they timed out. Whilst it was waiting for them to load the 'Reply' buttons wouldn't work as expected. I've swapped them over to a new service and everything should be back to normal. This might explain any other "lagging" people have had in recent days.

Thanks all!

@antdickens The lagging on articles problem seems fixed now. As for the disappearing thread problem, this thread was completely hidden unless you visited the specific thread via your browser history. It didn't appear where it should've appeared in the all topics list and searching for the thread came up with nothing. It only reappeared in the usual ways after I made this comment:

Articles with Youtube videos seem to be lagging a lot currently. Also this thread disappeared (maybe connected to the recent changes regarding the ignore function), I was only able to find it via my browser history.

I'm concerned that a malicious advert might currently be in ad circulation.
Whilst reading comments for a new article (https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2023/01/kirby-gains-new-copy-abilities-for-return-to-dreamland-deluxe#comments) the page suddenly redirected without user input.

Although I disable adblockers on Nintendo Life, my adblocker uBlock Origin blocked the site using a filter "/zcvisitor/*?campaignid$document"
I didn't allow the site to load, a cursory search for "zcvisitor" indicates it's common in malware.

Also noticing redirected ads, happened 4 times.

I've just experienced the redirect issue again whilst viewing the homepage.
This time i've screenshotted the ublock warning on the direct.

I dare not visit the URL it's trying to load, but I would anticipate something like a false "You've been hacked call this scam phone number for support" sort of webpage, or something that tries to install a ransomware.

I'll have network logs with logging preserved to see if I can catch the offending JS that triggers the redirect.

Scooby-Doo

Is there a way to search the archive? There is an article that I would like to find again, as I wish to double check what it said, but I cannot remember when it was from.

@antdickens Thank you, I realised that just after I asked, always happens. Still, thanks all the same.

@antdickens
I've had the advertising redirect occur three more times today, but this time I might have been able to capture a culprit.
Spoiler tags are used as a protective measure in case visiting these URLs proves harmful on an unprotected device (lacking uBlock origin, anti-virus, etc).

One of these two appears to be culpable for the redirect to the likely malicious /zcvisitor/ blocked site.

I've saved the captured requests in a HAR file that can be viewed directly here, or imported into Firefox's Network devtools.

It includes details of origin, redirect behaviour, it may help identify the source of the redirects to hopefully stop them?
