Topic: Undetected DS carts

I've come across the occasional non-reading DS cartridge as I buy a lot of used games. Normally I just get a refund and move on, but this latest one was an import so potentially more 'sticky' come refund time.

What I don't know is whether the contacts are knackered and unrecoverable, or just dirty? I don't have a supply of cleaning fluid that I know of (can I use White Spirit, or nail varnish remover?) or cotton buds at home so have never tried cleaning one.

Here's the cart in question:

You guys had me at blood and semen.

This happens to old game cards. Most of the time just carefully cleaning them with a dry microfiber cloth and being persistent does the trick.

Just keep taking it in and out until the console reads it.

If that fails, the ancient tradition of blowing also works.

But do keep in mind that if it's very old, it may lose connection mid-gameplay and crash.

Just to let you know that I bought a bottle of isopropyl alcohol for like £6 from Amazon UK and it is well worth it. It's lasted years and is really good for cleaning contacts and circuit boards.

See ya!

@StableInvadeel No doubting your wisdom and experience, but I've just tried the blowing trick and the remove and re-insert trick, but it was no use this time.

@RedderRugfish @ralphdibny Thanks, I've ordered some 99% isopropyl from eBay to give it a go.

Oh too bad, might be super old then. What game is it?

It does look more dirty than worn down though.
