@Wheels2050, I'm finally thinking about attending college, and lately I've become interested in computer/videogame programming. Have you attended any type of computer programming classes?

@Nintenbro I'd imagine for all of those reasons, but especially to just see the "inner-workings" of the game, so to speak. To see how the game works, and learn from it.
I feel like I'm going to have a good time with this program, though I have a lot to learn. My only experience with programming was a class my sophomore year of high school that wasn't designed very well.
Every program is limited to 9999 lines of code of 100 characters each, other than that, the only size limit is determined by the amount of reserved space the DSiWare has left for files (you can check it by using a console comand).
Most programs you'll find or write will be very light though. The largest one I have seen was about 60 QR codes long, that's about 180kb.
Also, they said the limit for a program is about 520,000 total characters. You can use multiple programs as well though.
The source code I've seen for people that have written music looks simplistic enough that people with elementary musical knowledge should be able to figure it out.
@theblackdragon, why would you want to see the pre-installed source codes? Were you going to try and manipulate the codes, or were you just going to try and mirror them in your own fashion?
I was attempting to figure out how to ask for user input and have it respond (ask a question? [y/n], user inputs y and gets answer A, user inputs n and gets answer B, user inputs else and gets something dumb) but after quite a bit of trial and error, i still didn't understand what i was doing wrong. i wanted to see how it was done in a different program, perhaps, but i couldn't figure out how to see their code because i was viewing them through Gallery Mode — in order to see their code you need to go in like you're creating a new program and then manually load them from there. :3

@Wilford111 My guess is that any BASIC programming tutorial would work and should be of help but I don't own it so I can't say for sure. (BASIC as in the programming language not shouting or a sarcastic comment.)
@theblackdragon Going through the Source Code is always a good way to learn or grasp an understanding of advance code.

thank you for that stunning observation! I'll be sure to keep it in mind always.

What if you downloaded the application onto a 3DS, would you be able to save your program onto the SD card?

Huh, yes. You can send them to the SD card, but you can't read them from there, you need to make qr codes to load them back on the DSiWare.
Anyways, I already figured out how to use my own sprites, now my little playable character can fish little fish with his little fishing rod on his little beach next to his little house

Pretty sure that you can use the unofficial PC editing tool to read/edit those programs though. Haven't tried myself, but I think it can.

Dang. I've been happy with my progress, but sounds like you're way up on my. Oh well. Once I get a better grasp of graphics I'll have my first test app posted... hopefully. The logic is close enough, I just need to add a front end now.
