Yeah, I'm a little under 5 hours in myself and I really am enjoying it. It doesn't have the appeal of Birth By Sleep, but it's Kingdom Hearts, it's fun, and that's all that matters. The debug rooms and end level challenges are a nice way of switching things up.
How many KH games are there for the DS? Is the order of playing important?
There's 2 on the DS: Re Coded and 385/2 Days. The order that you play them in does matter to the story, at least if you play the other games in the series as well.
^ Aha, OK, thanks. So, will I get the grip of the story if I just play these 2 on the DS, as I don't have other consoles?
Mmm... I would think that the story would be a bit confusing. The beginnings of the games do fill in some background story from the other games, but not enough to know everything that happened in the series. It'd be best to play the other games, but it's not entirely necessary.

Yes and no, you will understand the games' stories to a degree for the most part, but you will need to play the entire series to understand the series's storyline fully. The Kingdom Hearts series has a deep storyline, and all the games are connected storyline-wise, it's not like the Final Fantasy series where the games' are independent for each other storyline-wise. Still, I think you should understand each game's storyline enough to enjoy it. So you don't have a PS2 or PSP? If you only have a DS, start with 358/2 Days and then play Re:Coded after you complete 358/2 Days, since 358/2 Days takes place before Re:Coded.
