Funny, I wanted to make a topic about it. And yes, I'm nearing the end and it is REEEEAAALLY great. The matches are fun, the story is really engaging and the music is good. My biggest surprise is how, violent the game can become : I'm not saying it's violent in the sense we see it, but most of it is implied. And you actually don't need to recruit new players, you can finish the game with the team from the beggining. The animated cutscenes are quite tame (there are about 13 of them, some of it last 5 seconds), and seeing the trailer for 2 and 3, the first one looks minimalist now ! All in all, it is my N°2 game of January, the first one being Ghost Trick.
Well, I'm around 12 or so hours, so I think it would last around 14. As for replay value, it really depends if you want to have the best team evar or not. I know, that when, I'll finish it, It will sit on the shelf ready to be sold for the 3DS. I did not see however much sidequests, so I don't really know.
It seems It wasn't suposed to come out in the UK, in January and still isn't. In France we have some mad advertising for it, well at least it had a few. And don't try to import it : the cartridges have one language per country (my DS is set in English, the game plays in French, like the Layton games)
Just finished it 2 minutes ago. There seem to be a bit of post game content, like more matches against more powerful opponents. The story wraps itself quite nicely, though I'm a bit angry at the fact they didn't leave the original ending song, to replace it with an instrumental track ... Does Nintendo don't like the Japanese language or what ?
Probably nothing to do with Nintendo, probably cowardly developers needlessly 'Westernising'.
Yeah, this happens all the time, unfortunately, even to the Tales of Franchise (C'mon, it's about as Japanese Animish as it gets! Why take out the Japanese Vocal tracks?!).
There is no US version. It's questionable if they will ever make one, given that it's not one of the "big four" sports (baseball, basketball, hockey, American football). Although I suppose if they've already gone to the trouble of making an English version for the UK (even if it's not supposed to have been released), it'd be less of a risk for them to release it in the US at some point.
As in you mean, it will be one per year, so that we can't even think about having the fourth one until 2014 ? That's a lot of waiting ... And my wallet is really gonna suffer : Two Level 5 games a year, and maybe even 3 (Fantasy Life and Time Travellers and Layton vs PW)... I Love you Level 5 ! Edit : And CyberConnect 2 too
It is ! All versions have only one language per cartridge : if it's English packaging, English language. French package, French language ! So it's perobably a scam.
