Staraptor: Not only is this pokémon an alround better option than many similar pokémon such as Swellow and Pidgeot, it is also able to learn the fighting move Close Combat, which is one of the nicest moves yet.
I personally think that a swellow with guts, flame orb, and facade is much better. Much higher attack, and higher speed.
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
My current team on Pearl is Empoleon lv. 50, Raichu (which knows volt tackle) lv. 50, Lucario lv. 40, shining Roserade lv. 42, Crobat lv. 41, and Ambipom lv. 39. The reason my levels are so low is because I'm stuck at Pillar Spear restarting over again to find shining leagendaries. Palkia in particular. I'm close to giving up and just catching a normal one but shinies are so cool...
I've decided that for my HG playthrough, I'm going to use mostly pokemon that I like the look of, rather than pokemon who I like because of their strength. Because of that, hopefully it will make it a little harder. As another cool little thing, every pokemon on my team will either come to me by trade, pokewalker, or a gift in the game [like the starter, for instance]. So, my non-competitive team will be: Gallade [who I'm calling my starter, since I'm not training anything until I get Ralts] HMs: rock smash Typhlosion [my actual starter] HMs: rock climb Togekiss [from the togepi egg]HMs: Fly Parasect [from the pokewalker]HMs: cut [maybe flash] Quagsire [From the pokewalker]HMs: Whirlpool, Waterfall Flying/surfing Raichu [also from the pokewalker. However, if I find a light ball, I'll stick with pikachu.]HMs: Surf, Strength
Pidgeot (a bit crap but one of my favourite Pokémon)
Mamoswine
Togekiss
Ampharos
Vaporeon
I tend not to plan teams in advance, just pick things up as I go along. Hence my team's ridiculous weakness to Rock-type moves. And 2 Normal/Flying types. Oh well, Pidgeot is useful for Flying me around places. I can't be bothered relying on HM slaves, I always end up having to backtrack to a PC to get the slave I need for some rock in the way, or end up with the slave taking the place of the team member who would've been awesome in a particular battle... if only he wasn't in storage. It does mean that my Vaporeon is RUINED (Surf, Waterfall and Whirlpool, urgh) and several other members have not-exactly-helpful moves chewing up space, but oh well.
I know what you mean, raylax. I just realised that if I get a surfing pikachu instead, I can save quagsire 1 move slot, but I have to give Togekiss fly. It's hard, doing all this planning.

When did you say that you wanted your Male Ralts again?
Well, I just beat the Elite 4, and with all lvl 40-41 pokemon! (except for gallade, lvl 45). I'm suprised I managed to win so easily with pokemon like parasect that don't have very good moves yet.
My team works well, but I still need to train Ampharos and Wailord. A lot. Gengar and Dragonite, I need to train, just not as much. Weavile, level 72 Ice Shard Ice Punch Low Kick Night Slash Tyranitar, level 70 Stone Edge Fire Blast Earthquake Strength Dragonite, level 64 Outrage Flamethrower Fly Blizzard Gengar, level 65 Hypnosis Dreameater Shadow Ball Thunder Wailord, level 55 Surf Dive Waterfall Rollout Ampharos, level 53 Thunder Wave Discharge Charge Rock Climb
The Game.
Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.
I don't have Black or White yet. (I plan on getting the 3rd game.) but this is my dream team. 1. Emboar- Flare Blitz and Head Smash with it's dream world ability Reckless. Major damage. 2. Kabutops- Rain Dance with its Swift Swim. Also holds the Damp Rock. 3. Ferrothorn- EXPLOSION! And I'll take 2 weaknesses for an immunity and 10 other advatange types. 4. Froslass- A suicidal Pokemon using Destony Bond. 5. Ursaring- Given a Flame Orb with its ability Quick Feet and move Swords Dance, it's a monster. 6. Salamence- I NEEEEED a Pokemon with Fly. I die without it. It's a good Pokemon too.
"HEY DUDES, THANKS FOR RESCUING ME. LET'S GO FOR A BURGER.... HA! HA! HA! HA!" President Ronnie.
I just started making a competitive fighting team in Platinum because I was bored lol. I have so far: Octillary "The Special Sweeper"- Surf, Flamethrower, Ice Beam and soon to be Rain Dance or Toxic. Togetic "The Support"- Fly(gonna change that ), Yawn, Metronome, and Wish. Gallade- "The Physical Sweeper" Psycho Cut, Leaf Blade, Swords Dance, and Close Combat (will change to Ice Punch though)
