In around a year, the DS will probably migrate towards the Retro category and will be officially discontinued and the 3DS will take over. I'm stockpiling on DS games. Who eles has foreseen the inevitable end of Nintendo's revolutionary touchscreen handheld? I is sad .

I don't see it. Not for a while.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

I haven't heard any announcements for new DS games (at least not in the US) and a few DS-announced games have been moved to the 3DS.

There have been a couple. But I see what you mean now, because everything will be 3DS games. And why not? 3DS games are just DS games with 1000% better quality.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

I dont think its quite ready for the retro category, the GBA will be there but not the DS. Truth be told the 3DS is a DS system thats kinda like saying the DS lite is Retro when the DSi came out.

Thanks for putting my thoughts into words. I couldn't quite formulate them in my mind. X3

The main difference that I'm worried about is that most 3DS games won't utilize the touchscreen much, considering the top screen is 3D. And the fact that with 3D, 2D games will be rare on the 3DS. (Except for VC, of course)

Like how GBA was a Game Boy? Hate to break it to ya, but 3DS is still the next generation despite being similar to a DS

Well Bubble Pop 2 is coming out soon for the 3DS. That game seems to almost exclusively use the touch screen, so perhaps things aren't so grim for 2D gameplay on the 3D platform. After all, a lot of DS puzzle games are primarily 2D and rely heavily on the touch screen. We'll see what else is to come though.

The DS is still getting Solatorobo and Devil Survivor 2. That's more than enough for me.

I don't see it going away soon, I expect it will be like the PS2 and slowly go away, 120+million console owners is too big a number to not get any games for, top quality ones maybe though.

Well, there's Devil Survivor 2, a sequel to a game any fan of good stories and or Strategy RPGs shouldn't ignore.

Me no play M-rated games . So other then that, practically no announced games for the DS. Once the 3DS game library grows, they will probably start taking DS games off shelves and moving them towards the used section.

It might not be Mature, since a good chunk of SMT happen to be Teen. Devil Survivor 1 was rated T, and the game isn't even announced for North America yet (is it?).

It sounds like Japan has a pretty good selection of upcoming games. Perhaps you might want to import?

I still think there's a bit of life left in the DS (after all, we still don't have Ni no Kuni or the new Professor Layton and Kirby games). However, certain Nintendo-operated websites don't mention the original DS. It's drifting away, but it's not dead yet.

I'm back (for the moment)!

-you can play all ds games on the 3ds (except for guitarhero)
-there will be 2-D games. why shouldnt there be any? no logic
-3DS is a new generation not just an upgrade like the dsi was
-all dsiware games can be downloaded on the 3DS

2x8GB DDR4 RAM 3000mhz
GTX 1060 6GB

The DS is not dead yet, since there is a new Kirby game that will be released for the handheld.

No, not all. But most of them can.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
