Can anyone recommend (or not recommend) Final Fantasy Rings of Fate, Dragon Quest IV or Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker?

All three are good but very different.

Rings of Fate is action rpg with some thinking to get through the levels. I enjoyed playing it with my son ( you can play co-op if you have another person with a ds and another copy of the game). I'm not sure how much fun it would have been without the co-op. About 15-20 hours of play...possibly replayable as another character type but we didn't.

DQ IV is a fantastic jrpg. One of my favorite old-school titles. standard rpg stuff...turn based fighting, etc. Story was good imo...lasted me about 40 hours.

Monster Joker is like Pokemon except you have 3 monsters fighting at a time in a similar fashion to jrpgs. I enjoyed it more than the Pokemon games,

So, it depends on what type of game you are in the mood to play but I don't think you can go wrong with any of those...

On a side note...I'm playing MIght and Magic Clash of Heroes currently and it is fantastic! It's a puzzle rpg...similar to puzzle quest, but better in my opinion...best puzzle rpg I have played! Highly recommended.

Thanks cangelo. It sounds like DQ IV would be the choice for me. I tend to play RPGs on the go so I wouldn't be playing with anyone (plus...I have some aversion to buying 2 copies of the same game to play with my son).I will give Might and Magic a try but I'm looking for something cheap at the moment.

I can recommend FFCC: Ring of Fates. Coming from someone who has played it for almost two years, beat it multiple times and owns the game. Although, if you finally beat the game, but you haven't completed everything itself (e.g. levels) it will just restart and go back to the beginning, but it gets harder every time. I've reached Levels 90+ on all my characters, yet there are still a LOT more skills for me to complete. I've never played co-op (wireless DS to DS doesn't work for some reason, even though both my cousin and I have the game), but multiplayer works just playing by yourself in a free world, completing quests and such. So, simply speaking, you might get bored sometimes or frustrated on a certain area, but you will certainly keep picking up that DS.

Dragon Quest IV, I can recommend too. Good gameplay there, but I've only played it once with a friend. I've never tried DQM: Jokers. As a final verdict, I'd recommend Ring of Fates. But I'm only recommending. The decision is still yours. If you do happen to get it, and y'need help on certain areas, just buzz.
