Well, I was bored and read my mom's FamilyFun magazine. I flipped around and found a thing about the DSi. I looked at the bottom and it said, "Ages 6 and Up." Seriously, "6 and up?" I wouldn't give a 6 year old kid a $170 piece of technology. Would you?
Nope. I'd wait until they were at least 8, preferably 10ish. But maybe thats just me. I'd also be the parent who wouldn't buy them another if they broke it.

[21:15] pixelman: That's not an f by the way, it's a fancy t.

[21:15] theblackdragon: lol OB
[21:15] pixelman: OB knows what he's asking about.
Everyone develops differently... i mean, there's some thirty-year-olds I wouldn't allow to hold my DSi, lol. I'm with Objection_Blaster... 8 or 10 sounds all right on average, and if they broke it, they wouldn't be getting another until they'd earned it with their own money. :3
BEST THREAD EVER future of NL >:3
[16:43] James: I should learn these site rules more clearly
[16:44] LztheBlehBird: James doesn't know the rules? For shame!!!
My 6yr old niece handles the DS just fine, and Mario Kart Wii, and Cookin' Mama, and Safari Pet Rescue or whatever it's called (god i hate that game). She'll need a bit of supervision, but they need supervision with everything when they are that age.
All depends on the individual kid's motor control skills (ie, if he/she can comfortably hold and handle something of the DS size & weight). I'm more dumbfounded by the parents who buy a $300 iPod for their preteen, who promptly loses/breaks it, only to have mom & dad go buy another.
