I was thinking about this recently, what ever happend to the Augmented Reality cards that Nintendo were trying to push on the 3DS?
I know a couple of games used them, Kid Icurus being the main one that I can think of. But they seem to have fallen out of favour with Nintendo for what ever reason.
Now, this got me wondering, Amiibo cards are due this year, Nintendo could add AR functionality to these cards as a double feature. Then they could get thesame companies that made the streetpass games and make some AR games that work with the AR feature too.
What do you guys think? Good idea, or not something you'd really bother with.

First game I played that actually implemented those AR cards for me was Tomodachi Life and so far the only one.
Didn't really bother with the AR-games that were already on the 3DS system.
I found the concept rather peculiar and strange, but on the other hand also interesting and innovative.
Would give the amiibo cards something to stand out and maybe even cause collectors to get figure and card.

Right, it's possible that Nintendo isn't quite brave enough to take any big chances with AR stuff, since it hasn't proven itself to be particularly popular yet. But I think your idea is good. Provided that people will really get into the idea of AR, cards that have both amiibo features and AR features could be possibly a really smart combination.
I haven't used AR much myself... but to be fair, I just haven't tried it much. It could use some really innovative ideas.
