The second quest is worth trying at least once. All the dungeons are in different locations and they are rearranged.
Also the difficulty is more brutal. Be warned it get's really hard once you get to the fourth dungeon.
There's hidden walls you have to walk through instead of simply bombing them.
Also some dungeons have blue and red flashing balls that disable the use of you sword.

Honestly? The location of Level 8 is ridiculously obvious. It's a tree that so blatantly stands out.

Also, what bosses are "one shot" in the first quest? Answer = None.

Thanks from the answer. But still i think its biased. The level8 spot wasnt that obvious. In the game are several bushes wish look very supicious and still do nothing when burned or just got a granny in it ...

Oh and sure there are several bosses in zelda1 which are one shotted . Let me think ... Oh right i one shotted ganondorf ...
You one shot the round enemy with the eye in it ...
Oh you can one shot the green enemy with 4 claws ( with just 1 bomb)
So you seem to not using your mind ?! Enough of mentioning 3 bosses ? Ah and you need only 1 bomb for dodongo as well?
I just finished it , so try it yourself and dont trust your memory ....

Ps: it was all talked about the NORMAL quest

Ps2: why seem all posters with mylittlepony avatars to be biased arrogant bored studs ?!

cheers

Ok looks like a fun challenge. Brutal dungeons -> check
But what about the bosses ? One shot or real fights like in zelda2 ?!

Well, in Level 6, you can easily defeat Gohma by just going inside and immeadiately shoot an arrow. I forgot the name of the boss in the 3rd dungeon, But you defeat that one with just planting a bomb in the right spot.

Yes terave thanks for supporting me.
But in the last post i talked about the second quest. Or do u mean you can still one-shot bosses even in the harder second quest ?!

Yes, it is. I'm sorry, but it's like staring you straight in the face.

But fair enough, you are correct that some of the bosses are one-shots, i jumped the gun on that one. I could be annoyingly technical and say that neither Dodongo nor Ganon (no "-dorf" in the original game) nor the "Giant Eye" (Digdogger) are "one-shots" since you have to hit them (at least) once to set up the kill shot (Dodongo = bomb then stab, Ganon = stab then arrow, Digdogger = flute then stab or bomb), but fair enough.

I have no idea what that even means.

EDIT:
Everything is harder in the 2nd Quest, especially after the first few dungeons.

No, i still don't get it. Yes, i get the brony part. But i have no idea what a "biased arrogant bored stud" is. Arrogant, perhaps, i'll give ya that one But i don't understand either the "biased" or "bored" part, and am not sure if the "stud" part refers to the pony/horse definition of "stud", or the more colloquial usage.

And i don't know what "cracked diversity" is. But I'll leave it all alone and avoid further thread derailment.

Back to Zelda, the 2nd Quest can get really hard, and some of the dungeons are nuts — as Link79 said, there are invisible walls to walk through, and there are red bubbles which take away your sword until you can find a blue bubble to run into (as opposed to the bubbles in the 1st quest, who just take your sword-ability temporarily). And all the enemies are a bit tougher. That being said, i found Level 9 in the 2nd Quest to be much easier to get through (or maybe just quicker, if not actually easier) than in the 1st quest.

Now I know! I've been in Level 9 in the second quest with invisible walls once! I was already thinking: Huh? No walking through, but planting bombs?

Yup, and the correct response is to burn them all to see what, if anything, they contain. It's a game of exploration, and level 8 is not hard to find if you explore a bit.
I mean, you need to explore pretty closely to find level 2 as well, usually keeping close track of which screens you haven't been to.

Level 8 is particularly hard to find compared to all the others. Even level 9 you at least get a hint for. Level 2 took me awhile to find the first time I ever got there (actually just skipped it at first, I think), but all you need to do is walk up to it and you see it. There's no trick to it. Having to burn all sorts of random bushes without even being told (to my knowledge) that the level is under a bush in the first place, that's something else...

I have pushed, pulled, burned, and bombed everything that can be pushed, pulled, burned, or bombed in the game, so I eventually found it, but I'm not sure it's right to expect that kind of obsession from every player to find something so essential to your progress. I think the level deserved an obscure hint from the old man at least. But it has been awhile since I've played the game, so I may be forgetting something that should have put the player on the right track.

I agree with this. When I came back to the game yesterday after almost a year, I had some trouble. I was under the impression that the later levels were a little ways to the north. It doesn't help that, other than Level 7, it's a stairs entrance. Before I resort to a map online, I actually skipped it when I came across it because I thought it's just an entrance to a random door charger/a secret to everybody. Cue major facepalm. Turns out I was already there anyway when I noticed I have the compass and since I left it opened which didn't help my return to have the curiosity to enter it. It's debatable that Level 7 is harder to find, and even though it is hinted for, it involves an unique mechanic that's only used once.

SECRET IS IN THE TREE AT THE DEAD-END

And yes, the game expects you to explore properly and discover tons of burnable bushes and bombable walls. It's a game of exploration, where you're constantly discovering new stuff, not one where you just walk around and do as you're told. Level 8 is under a conspicuous bush, and the game expects you to try burning all such bushes.

Adamant

Adam

Uhhh, that's the wrong hint. We are talking about a bush, not a tree, and not at a dead end... There is another secret at an actual tree at an actual dead end. Or were you just making a joke about the old man hints...? Sorry, I'm confused.

However, looking up a video of it, the bush is more conspicuous than I remember. I may be thinking of a second quest dungeon. I can't say I would particularly think a dungeon should be there, but it's definitely something I would think to burn down the moment I got red candle or fire wand.

Either use a dodge and attack method or kill it with bombs. Easy in both situations. Just go back a little to dodge the attacks and then there's a lot of time to make your move before next attack comes.
