Well for starters they are supposedly enhanced versions of how they originally sounded, yet they barely recognizable.
If I had heard these cries without the visual I would have swear that they are new Pokémon as some notes are nothing like how they were.
Besides which, why did Gamefreak decide to do the enhancements now? Why not back with Ruby & Sapphire the GBA's enhanced audio hardware?
If they can make the then new Pokémon that advantage of the cries then why they decided to do this supposed enhancement's now instead of back at the GBA days.
Finally there's Pikachu.
WTF is going on here?
If I had not knowen any better I would have mistaken it a bog mix up with the Anime.
The games & the anime are of separate canon & same with the cries of the Pokémon yet all of Pokémon's X & Y's Pikachu's now have Ikue Otani voice acting.
Sure it may be a neat supprise if it was an event Pokémon in pretty much the same way that Pokémon Yellow has Ikou Otani's Pikachu Cries yet regular Pikachu's should still have the games cry.
While I still love Pokémon X & Y yet these mutalated cries still bother me.
Mixing "separate" canon? The line between canonical worlds is set by the developers, it can be anywhere.
Personally I feel that Pikachu's "enhanced" cry is appropriate in either world, and it pulled me a bit more into the game.
ALL of the old Pokémon's cries have been changed; even those from Generation V are not the same. Garbodor in particular has been noticably changed; going back a bit further Drifblim is quite a bit different (sounds like a song with a beat to it), Psyduckactually sounds like a duck, you can more easily tell the difference between Jigglypuff and Ditto, etc. etc. I've been having a lot of fun listening to all the new cries! I like it a lot! the only one that bothered me was Mewtwo; otherwise I'm happy with all the changes. Gives me something new to discover.
Dat Drifblim cry is awesome! (Off-topic: I actually like a lot of the things about Drifblim in X/Y. I really like how he just sort of sits there all lazy-like in battle and doesn't move at all; and Fly looks hilarious. I think the animation is supposed to seem like a dive into the opponent, but because of his arms it looks like Drifblim is just like falling onto the enemy XD)
I didn't realize all of them were changed. Perhaps I'll have to listen more closely. I definitely think it was a good idea, considering the first gen's were starting to sound noticeably under par as the newer Pokemon came out, but I'll be keeping an ear out for those that are noticeably worse, as expressed above.
I would have never guessed Weezing was so useful until I played a HeartGold Nuzlocke! My YouTube Channel! Video game related, of course! My Pushmo Levels

Hydreigon sounds like someone is choking it. I'm glad some cries went untouched and some that were mixed with their original with perfection (Arbok, Psyduck etc.)

Crime doesn't pay, unless you are really good at it then those who are legal criminals ...
Oh, they're much better than before. What are you talking about?
I agree fully!
This.
The only thing I dislike is that when recieving eggs, if you have it on high volume it sounds all static-y.

Well as has been with the games canon in the past is that these different Pokémon has different animal sounds.
Yet wit the anime they can't quite get these cries to emote so they change it to them calling there species name as that way they can emote like Pikachu going "Pika Pi Pikachu" or Pi Pikachu"
Yet Pokémon X & Y have all these animal sounding Pokémon that is untill you come up to Pikachu telling you that he/she is a pikachu.
It's like if I cane up to you & simply just said "Human"
Sure I loved how the anime have the Pokémon show there emotions yet unlike the games tere cries don't have this animal qualities to then.
@Kawaiipikachu: Actually, I'd almost say that's how people expect Pikachu to sound; I showed it to several people who were not necessarily Pokémon fans, and they were surprised that Pikachu had not always sounded like that.

Hmm while I get what you're saying I didn't find Pikachu's cry to be disruptive.
That's funny about Pikachu saying "Pikachu" all the time, but if you said "kawaiiPikachu" I would understand that as your name... although people don't usually refer to themselves in the third person.
Talking about canon, it seems to me that the Pokemon games are the bass canon (lulz) from which all the other story lines have been derived. While it might seem strange to replace the original elements with those of the anime or elsewhere, it's just an adaptation of the core game. Now that the "canon" of Pokemon at large has been allowed to mature, the developers let some of those ideas cycle back in.
An interesting choice, though certainly open to debate!
I'd personally love it if the Pokémon's cries in-game were changed to their anime cries. And, if necessary, be able to turn the feature off and return to the game's sounds.
I just don't understand how we're supposed to "catch 'em all" if they keep making more!
