From a interview with Splinter Cell 3D's producer. Full interview here
GSUK: It's been suggested that the 3DS has a similar level of processing power as the Wii. Is this the case in your experience?
FC: The 3DS is powerful, and we are able to run the Unreal engine on this console, which is pretty impressive for a handheld machine, and the 3D doesn’t affect the performance (thanks to my amazing programmers). The architecture is different compared to a Wii or some other platforms that we had to work with here at Ubisoft Montreal.
Reminds me of the Unigine Heaven benchmark, except without tessellation. Now that would look amazing!
Sean Aaron ~ "The secret is out: I'm really an American cat-girl." Q: How many physicists does it take to change a light bulb? A: Two, one to hold the light bulb, the other to rotate the universe.
Sorry 'bout that... Anyway...Now I have nothing to say except that I just think Epic is lazy. EDIT: Actually I do have something to say. According to Epic, Ubisoft only got Unreal Engine 2 running on the 3DS. Source: http://www.destructoid.com/ubisoft-trumps-epic-gets-unreal-ru...
Nice to see Unreal engine running on 3DS (only to find out it's UE2 apparently)
But still, Ubisoft are not really taking advantage to make amazing 3DS titles. Ghost Recon is the only game that isn't a port of some kind. Splinter Cell and Rayman 3D look decent and doesn't reperesent the power of 3DS where Capcom's titles do. It's only the beginning though. Hope they make use of the Unreal engine to make a visually appealing game on 3DS (Assasin's Creed is on the way and it's new apparently).
