Yikes, I read from the 1st post up until the 27th post before I realized all of the speculation was a couple months old (save for the 8 posts). I only figured it out because TokyoRed called the Vita the NGP and said he couldn't wait for E3 to find out its price =P
moar power, better soundcard, new OS, more pressure sensibility, upgraded features... dual analog, 4 shoulder buttons. keep the backward compatibility with the DS / 3DS and you got your 3DS 2.
why not making a titanium allow body with hard rubber cushionned sides so it will never break if it falls, and absorb schock if its hit.
on a funny side, give it 3 screens, a laser pointer, a scanner, an electrical output to use it as a taser with its own battery pack (so you can tase someone then take a video right away to put it on youtube), and a live encyclopedia mimicking a pokedex about real life animals, plants or whatever. scan and know what it is. give it a gps and a phone too, also, full access to a huge porn database, all the time because of built in internet module. for free. add a razor so i can quickly shave every morning. make it a living being so it can resist water, eat, poop, scream at strangers, reproduce itself and conquer the world. with 4 screens.
So do I. I like the 3DS design too. Their just really really boring and unimaginative IMO.
Both of them looks more like redesigns rather than new next gen systems.
Kind of like the Wii U?
And how many other ways can you design a handheld? The 3DS could have been more curved to make it stand out from the original DS line, but the Vita looks perfect the way it is. It's slimmer than the PSP, and looks more comfortable to hold (curvy is good).
I just noticed that the 3DS touchscreen is smaller than the DSi's.
You think? I think they look a whole lot different. Wii is always seen standing and with the iconic yet elegant blue discstrim on and looks as small as a DVD-case. WiiU seems to be as long as a snake and looks nothing like the Wii on the front from what I've seen.
I mean just look at the length of this thing:
IMO the only thing they have in common is the name and color.

There's lots of ways. Just look at all the previous Nintendo handhelds. They all look pretty different, even some of the redesigns like the GBA SP could be mistaken for a new system rather than a redesign.
These are just unimaginative.

Nah, that's just the picture. I had to change the size of them so that they could go in a even pattern above each other. It makes it more noticeable how alike they are. You'll have to take screen size and other things with a grain of salt.

I never realised how long the Wii U was before. Is there any chance that the design could change at all by launch, or is this definitely exactly what it will look like?

They've said that both the controller and console designs are pretty much good to go. So I guess we won't get any major changes.
But you never know. There's still a long way to go until the console is released and a lot can always get changed. Just wait for E3 2012, we should see the final design there.

Ah, good to know, thanks. Still a long way to go so I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Can't wait! I hope I don't need to travel around much because that big thing is going to be a pain to take with me. =P
