It looks pretty fun, but I'm not sure I'd wanna spend so much on it yet. I'll wait and see

This is why developers should release demos more often. I too think it looks interesting, but not interesting enough to spend $13 sight unseen. With a good demo, however, I could easily be convinced.

and long demos (like 30 mins of the game or at least 15 mins) not like the final fantasy demo that came out last week. One song and it was just a basic song (did not even show the new modes) the demo made the game feel like it was the same old first one and will turn many off .

I have the game.

Initial thoughts:

-first person dungeon crawler.
-voice acting.
-the hero is rather ugly, but everything else looks nice.
-touch menus, inventory, combat and magic.
-you can throw stuff in front of you via stylus flick to solve puzzles.
-runes are used for magic, you can organize them in you "matrix" in certain ways according to magic scrolls to use magic.
-combat is hard I just got cornered and killed by a rat.

Edit, now that I got used to the controls and found appropriate armor and weapons, I'm really enjoying the game!

It has a great atmosphere, secrets and children to rescue in each chapter. The story is also kinda ominous, just like the constant giant spiders that appear in the dungeon.

Thought it's one of those "what the heck do I do now?" kind of games. Like Myst. A little.

I really like the magic system with the runes and the matrix and stuff

Melee combat seems kinda useless to me though, I rarely connect the hits and then they do very little damage.

It could be that I have been investing skill points mostly in intelligence.

Thanks for your input. I'm really about to spend the money myself and try it too. 13$ is really NOT that much (I was not born in the 1$ era of iPhone games, but more in the era of 99$ for buying a brand new 16-bits RPG that could last 15-20 hours only), so I might just take the chance.

what game cost 99 bucks. I know some did but cant remember. I think one was a fighter for the gensis or 32x

I got stuck in chapter 9. The game just got too hard out of nowhere with its wizard zombies that summon zombies and the super rats.

I may have to reset the file to see if I can prepare better.

Phantasy Star IV cost 99$ at release. The pricing during the 16 bits era was all over the place. I remember buying a game for 60$only to finish it 1 hour later. So quite frankly, 13$ is dirt cheap if you ask me (and yes, I did bought it finally. Have yet to start it)

yea phantasy star . LOL long story short found it at a pawn shop a week after it came out for 10 bucks.

same with super mario 7 stars. found that a week later for 7 bucks at pawn.

man those were the days. I remember staying up to 3 or 4 am playing them

Each level or chapter comes with a predefined number of enemies that don't respawn. Well except for this one... Dem zombies.

Upon finding the stairway you get the option to not advance, but since I never tried that option, I don't know if it respawns the enemies.

The game is.... 1368 blocks.

One thing is sure, I'll write down all the spells before restarting the game. Carrying around so many scrolls is not exactly effective.

Hi, I'm one of the developers of this game and I'm glad you proceeded so far in the game.

It is true, that in chapter 9 it is getting a bit harder - naturaly as you are getting closer to the Lord Watrys. If you have strict magic inclination, you can try to reorganize your magic matrix and try to think out different tactics with different spell set. Each enemy has some weak point. If you have weak armor, you can use some spell to shield enemy attacks or to block enemy. And be sure to know a lot about the use of those blue crystals;)

And yes, there is really big difference if you would invest strictly to intelligence or to the strength or if you distribute it equally to all three attributes. Once you finish the game, I recommend to chose the different inclination and play on the higher difficulty, it might be quite new experience;)

To the melee combat - there are basic strikes (only horizontal and diagonal) which consume stamina. But if you equip a weapon, you can perform combos which are more effective and has some specials and mainly they don't consume stamina. You charge the combo points with basic strikes. Each weapon has unique combos and also has different stamina comsumption.

A lot of is described in the manual, but if you have some questions to the game, I will try to ask them (unless it would be spoiler of course).

I do have one question, I remember looking around for almost an hour inspecting every nook and cranny for Nathaniel (I think that was his name?) in level 3. I killed every spider I could find, but the kid never appeared. Are these kids timed or do I just need to search better?
Edit: oh xD right after writing this I restarted my game, the first thing I did in that level was finding him completely accidentally.

Also. It's nice knowing there are shield or protecting spells. Though I couldn't find any myself.

Edit: oh and, how many chapters are in the game?

Update!

I beat the game. I played it on easy this time to see how long it was.

There are ten chapters in total, not counting the tutorial. It took me about three to five hours (keep in mind I already knew most of the secrets and played on easy). In total, counting the previous (incomplete) playthrough, It took me 9:32 hours.

I definitely recommend finding and using the "magic shield" and "silencing" spells, they'll make the magical enemies (last boss included) and traps much easier.
I invested most of my skill points in dexterity and the leftovers in strength. Since I did not rely that much on magic attacks (only status effects and buffs) I did not need to invest in intelligence at all.

Dexterity is a must because it speeds up your health, mana and stamina recuperation. If you plan to beat the game you'll need to invest in it, in my first file I ignored it.

I silenced Watrys and then used the protective spell just in case, then massacred him with the last battle axe you get. It was funny how helpless he was.

The best part of the last level was the part before Watrys, where a big horde of soldiers appears. I activated the traps, protected myself with the spell and crossed the hallway with the traps, then I saw the helpless soldiers trying to reach me.

The ending was kind of underwhelming though.

I like the puzzles. I guess they wouldn't be completely possible in randomized dungeons, but an extra endless mode with random floors would have been pretty nice I think. Maybe in an update or sequel? Hint hint, Cinemax.

Just seen this for the first time on the shop and at first sight screamed Shadowgate with a focus on combat. It was interesting to read the opinions and such. I'm into too many games at the moment but I'll have to keep this in mind. Going on my wish list for sure!

Hey guys, I feel silly asking for help, but I'm stuck in Chapter 7. From the large room, I rode the rail cart to the right and arrived at a much smaller room. Following a long-ish path to the left lead me to a small chamber with a closed door and a hole in the ground. Beside the hole, it is written on the wall to "dispose of waste" or something like that. Curious of what could hold this waste hole, I jumped in and found myself in a chamber filled with enemies. After blasting my way through those mine workers and ogres and taking all the treasure, I'm left to find a way out of this closed door chamber. I checked for levers, any switch of any kind, nothing. Either I'm becoming blind, or I was suppose to open the door from the other side. Ugh. Any ideas? Love the game, btw.

Hi, the sign beside the hole says: "Return your mining equipment here!" I hope, that helps you;)

@MartinLindaCZ: Chapter 8! Thank you so much. Being stubborn I didn't want to restart the level, but knew that sign was probably important:-)
