Unfortunately I don't think I'll be finishing it for a long time now. Just got Rayman Origins, Xenoblade Chronicles, Shinobi, Sonic Generations, Pokemon Blast/Rumble, among other not gaming related things that will probably keep me from playing Tales. Still, yesterday as I was expecting this, I played a good 4 or 5 hours and am now about 18 hours in. A lot left, but hopefully I can savour it over a long time rather than quickly dashing through the game. I don't want the Christmas holiday to end! Ad oly one week left... ;-(

I'm not properly back yet but there's a music track from the game that I want to listen to and can't find it on youtube so I was wondering if anyone knew it's name? It's the one that plays in cutscenes where Luke's reluctancy to kill human enemies is shown.

I found the song I was looking for and its called Serious and it actually seems to play in various sad cutscenes. Anyway, I am loving this game so far and I think that it is definitely the best game on 3DS and I highly doubt that it won't be in my top 5 games of all time after I finish it. The story is fantastic and its taken a much shorter time to really get interesting than any other rpg I've played! Its also got a great cast of characters with Guy being my favourite and Jade being second and even though I have found Luke annoying quite a number of times, he's still a well-developed character and he's still quite likable. The soundtrack is awesome too and the gameplay is great with free run and the field of fonons being good additions to the battle system.

I started the second third of the game 2 days ago which is apparently the longest of the three parts of the game and I'm finding Luke to be a really likable character now and the character development in this game is fantastic, especially for Luke.

I don't think the voice acting in this game is as bad as some have been saying as I think most of the main characters voice acting is well done and most of the bad voice acting I've heard is from generic NPCs but there have been two important characters so far whose voice acting isn't that good. The first is Sync and because of his mask and voice acting I couldn't tell what gender he was and had to look it up on the internet. The other is Asch whose voice acting sounded good at first but when he temporarily joins your party, his voice acting sounds pretty bad in battle and when he speaks at the end of some battles but it doesn't sound bad in cutscenes and when he fights you.

I've been doing some sidequests before facing the final boss and last night I did the awesome cameo boss fight against Mint, (Tales of Phantasia) Philia, (Tales of Destiny) Reid, (Tales of Eternia) and Nanaly (Tales of Destiny 2). It such an a great boss fight as it was so much fun but one of the most challenging fights in the game at the same time. It also had an awesome boss theme called Everlasting fight which remixed battle themes from each of the four games that the characters come from and the themes it remixed were Take up the cross, (ToP) Bare its fangs, (ToD) Inferia battle, (ToE) and Dona nobis pacem (ToD2).

Also, I've been having trouble with the advanced singles tournaments in the coliseum and since you can't use items in them, does anyone know what the best recipes are for each character are?

I hope the 3DS gets more games that were sony exclusive back in the day, like this one well there is a hinted VII game from square.... my guess DQ VII

where did you see this ??? any link?
i dont see much title that has a 7 else than this one. (final fantasy 7, forget it. square said it wont see the day. yet. my guess is that they will wait for the next gen systems, or maybe even the other after it so it can look as great as the movie advent children.also, it is something they will make money over guaranteed. better keep that in stock in emergency case.
anyway.

dragonquest 7 on 3ds, bring it here. now. because its one of those titles that kept mystery all the way thru. that had serious plot twist. perfect combat system. ultra lenghty. ultra deep. i keep it close to my heart, probably the most mysterious and involving rpg i ever played.
and since they re-released on DS every dragonquest so far up to the 6th, logic wants that the 7 will have the same quality treatment.

If anyone could help with the boss fight against Nebilim, it would be greatly appreciated. She is one of the hardest bosses I've ever faced.

I will be picking this up tomorrow. However it is solely to have it as I'm playing way to many other games atm to devote a good number of hours into an RPG. I'm also afraid it will be hard to find if I don't get it right away as well. Who knows. If I start playing it I might not want to put it down!

I just finished this masterpiece last night and as I said in another thread it is now tied with Tales of Symphonia for my favourite game ever. I don't think the final boss fight felt as epic as the one in ToS but the way they finished off the villain was more epic but the way the characters finished off the villain in ToS wasn't really meant to be epic but worked for what it was but I'm getting off-topic now. Anyway, the ending was fantastic and I liked the sketch like images that were shown as the credits rolled.

Overall, I think this game has an amazing storyline with a great cast of characters along with some of the best character development I've seen in a game but I would've liked it if it revealed more about Asch's past. I'm not sure, which I has the better main characters out of the two Tales of games I've played but the God generals (TotA) are a much better antagonist group than the Grand cardinals (ToS) and I like how most of the God generals had a rivalry with one of the main characters. I think the main antagnonist from ToS is better than the one from TotA but the latter is still a great antagonist. The towns and dungeons are great in this game too even if it gets rather repetitive going through the similar sephiroth tree dungeons close together. The LMBS (the battle system that the Tales of series uses) has also been improved upon with the free run ability but I think the Field of Fonons (FoF) system could've been done better as each FoF move can only be triggered with a specific arte so artes which are basically upgraded versions of previous artes won't trigger a FoF. It also has one of the best soundtracks I've heard in gaming but IMO, its not quite as good as the one from ToS.

@mariofanatic128 You should really change you're name to something Tales related, seeing as you're two favourite games are both from the Tales series. :3 Also, you basically single-handedly kept this thread alive.

I got this game earlier today and didn't get past the title screen. My old man nap was calling me LOL. I also have to many games I want to play and still knee deep into RE:R and Zen Pinball. I will try to set aside some time for this tomorrow. I played Symphoina and loved it but never beat it for some reason. Get really far to. I'm looking forward to this game but I fear to many other games that are shorter will take up most of my time! Ugh!

Done. You can find out what it means in the 'I changed my name' thread.

How does Abyss measure up against Symphonia ?

As I said in my last post, its tied with ToS as my favourite game ever and I know that you love ToS too so I'm sure you'll like TotA.

TBH, the 3D in this game is rubbish, its the only 3DS game I own where I've kept the 3D off for almost the whole time playing but its still an astounding game and definitely the best game on the console.

I haven't played much of the game but from what I have played I can tell its really well made and polished. I thought the 3d was slightly above average. The fights are fast paced and a nice welcomed addition to the normal turn based battles. I like always being entertain by that as some rpgs battle systems can either put you to sleep or you just button mash your best moves and that's it. I really need to find the time to play this game but I fear it will take me forever to beat it. I like to find everything I can on my first play through.
