Tales of The Abyss launched in the UK today, so what are your thoughts about the game! I've only played for an hour but so far I'm not too impressed. It seems very slow and the graphics aren't that great. The cut-scenes are very nice, but the characters look 5/10 whereas the scenery looks more like an 8/10. I also dislike the way Luke moves. Rather than seemingly having his feet on the floor, he seems to almost float around. The game does look promising though, and the game is meant to get far better as you progress! I have yet to actually experience any of the fights yet and this does look like the games best part! I think the game should improve lots as I progress but so far it's a 6.5/10 for me.
So, what do you think? Is the game worth it's Price tag, or have you got enough games to play? (eg - Skyward Sword, SM3DL) Please post below!
I'm getting it for Christmas and I'm really looking forward to it. I doubt I'll like it as much as ToS as thats my favourite game ever but I still think this game looks amazing. It does sound annoyingly slow paced at the start though if you haven't got into a single fight after playing for an hour. Then again, if the story and characters are good (and they certainly look it), that might make up for it.
Huh. I'm really enjoying the game, I actually think it's gone pretty fast, I've only played for around 5 hours but nearly every character has been introduced and there has been plenty of combat. I also think the game looks damn good, there's been no compromises when taking it from the PS2 to 3DS.

The topic author commented only on the game's looks, and this makes me doubt that he actually owns the game (and not just commenting on something from YouTube).
Also I'd recommend you pick this title up ASAP if you're at all interested. It's only being sold online here in the UK and it's bound to be rare which means the price will go up.

Hence why I brought it at launch, knew it would become another one of those RPGs that becomes rare and pricey very shortly.
I regret saying that now as I have played rpgs where the first fight wasn't in the first hour and this is often countered by the story an/or characters and/or the setting being interesting in the rpgs where this is the case but I have played more rpgs where the first fight is in the first hour.
I think the first fight was actually about half an hour in for me(not counting the tutorial fight)... actually the intro is very fast it might not have even been that long.

Actually, just like to revise something, well, actually lots of things.
1. My first fight was actually after 42 minutes, I just thought I'd be playing it longer due to a few fairly lengthy cutscenes at the start.
2. The graphics are better than I thought. After playing for about 3 hours now, I've found the scenery is gorgeous! The character artwork is still slightly meh, and a lot of Luke's expressions make him look like an alien, but overall the graphics are pretty good.
3. I never commented about the sound in my original post, but it's very good. Lots of the songs are very nice and 99% of character speech is fully voiced to a very good standard. Unfortunately though the game is mostly in 2D.
My original score was very harsh. The game is very good and the gameplay is solid and fun, and it has a very deep and involving story, my new score is 8.5/10.
@Oregano Is it not being sold at all in our shops over here? I would have thought that Game and such would have at least had a few copies, if not many.
Still going to pick this up when it hits U.S. shores. Hopefully 3DS can be like the DS when it comes to RPGS. I'm playing Golden Sun Dark Dawn, and my next DS purchases are going to be Fire Emblem shadow dragon,FIII,and FFIV.
WAT!

From what I've heard they will order you a copy in store but they aren't stocking any copies.
Also I believe this is the last tales to have hand done animations rather than motion capture so that might explain some of the weirdness.
