Why is a lot of people comparing the 3DS to the 64? It's on par with the gcn, which had Melee. The cards for the 3DS can also hold 2 gbs, when gcn discs could only hold 1.4 gb, which means they can just take Melee and actually ADD ON to it. And also, half of you guys are saying that since the DS lacks the ability then the 3DS will, too. Some of you guys need to get your facts straight. and some of you actually think that this topic is about Smash Bros. on the DS, when it's about the 3DS. XD silly internet people.
i would buy it just add different people like professor layton mario luigi bowser fox dk ike wario waluigi toon ganondorf kirby dogs beat agents golden sun guy toon zelda/zelda in armor suit (like shiek and zelda) more pokemon starfy samus yoshi robo paper mario and maybe for 3rd party sora ryu jill bomberman bill snake sonic aiai
Can't understand why everyone says it has Wii graphics...looks somewhere near GCN/PS2 to me...
It's just hard to tell at this stage. the Mario Kart gameplay footage looks near Wii quality, while Kid Icarus looks somewhere around PS2 quality. Then there's Steel Diver which looks just like a regular DS game to me.

Yeah, but once the 3DS is out for awhile, developers will be able to work with the graphics better. Kind of like how some PS2 games looked better around the end of that console era. (Or compare Kingdom Hearts 1's graphics to the 2nd game's graphics. There is a pretty impressive difference.)
I can't imagine playing a 3D smash bros. I personally dont think it would work unless it was only the background. I dont think that a 3D non shooter would work

Theres no word for a new Smash bros Game for the 3DS....(Not that I know of....)
But it looks like Nintendo don't like making smash bros games, and there the same way with F-zero games too.

If they release a VC for the 3DS and allow us to play N64 or gamecube games (depending on the power of the 3DS) we could see a remake or port of either of the first two Smash games.
I mean heck, I can already play the N64 smash on my psp, the 3ds should be much more powerful, so its not impossible to expect at minimum an N64 quality smash, in terms of graphics, if not better.
If I was in charge of SSB 3DS: Ok, from looking at their ISO, Melee is about 1 GB in size, and Brawl is over 4GB in size. The game is probably going to be close to Melee quality. We most likely won't see SSE anywhere in the 3DS version, and not as many songs, levels, and characters. If they started from Melee the extra GB could go to better graphics and a MUCH stronger online mode than Brawl. We might also see some Brawl characters and stages added to the mix. I'd like to see a different Adventure mode for the 3DS that's short like Melee's adventure mode, but interesting like SSE. Offline play could work with DS Download Play, or like how pictochat works; it detects any other DS playing it and allows you to join them. And online play could work just like Brawl's only much better. The 3DS could use that new online feature to constantly send us pictures and stages. There could also be an online leaderboard for Homerun Contest and Break the Target records. Stage Builder would be back and would act exactly the same as Brawl's so you make the stage on the 3DS, and move it to your SD card(3DS has an SD card Slot right) and you could play them on Brawl and vis-versa. Maybe you could import songs from your SD card. Button layout is simple, L would shield, R would be grab. ABXY, start and Slide pad would be the same as the GC. Select could be taunt. Now for the DPAD I got nothing. 3D would have little use. Keeping 3D at a minimal would help save battery and processing power. It would be called 3DSSB, See how the S from 3DS and SSB come together like in DS and 3D. imo that would be cool!

It should be much better. The original DS is on par with the N64.
I have had plenty of fun with SSBM and SSBB playing on my own. Its impossible to have friends around all the time. I look forward to a SSB game on 3DS.
You can add depth to the horizontal stages as much as you can on first person games, SSB also used a lot of special effects that would work great with 3D, imagine sending mario flying upwards just to have him hitting you in the nose or see him banishing in the horizon. What about the Nintendog assist trophy from brawl, that would be 100 times more annoying if it was 3D! or the lugia and ho-oh pokemon which attack toward the screen!, Explosions, effects, techniques, items, new styles or gimmicks for new stages, new animated stage parts and items. A screen for each player would also provide other opportunities, how about a new Metroid that latches onto the screen instead of the character (damage + annoyance!) or a multiplayer adventure mode where every player is free to explore (and maybe needs to!) on their own.
3D isnt just for a kind of game, And a screen for each player would definitely be an improvement, just like in Mario Party DS.
Nintendo seemed pretty keen on turning over a new leaf with their Wifi and internet at E3. They maybe able to pull off some descent online on this system. As AlexSays was saying they probably won't make a sequel for the smash bros. ont the 3DS for sake of console sales. I think however they could make a spinoff adding several of the new characters people are suggesting on the Wii forum. The DS has it's own cast of favorites. They might not have things like stage builder in the game but they may allow imports from the wii version's stage builder via SD card. They may build up more of a single player so something like subspace is more enjoyable for everyone.
