Topic: StreetPass Mii Plaza Puzzle Problem

Ok, i've been thinking on this for like 20 minutes now and i cant figure it out. The new puzzles have those purple squares in the middle. Well, you cant buy those squares, you can only get them from friends. Well, if nobody can buy them then my friends can't buy them and then i can't get them from my friends. What do they have like special distribution days or something because i cant figure it out.

ya it wont let you buy them. I tried several times, and i think it also told us when the puzzles were introduced

You get them through SpotPass.

I don't know exactly how that work though.

Hmmm.... I'm not sure. I wish I knew what to do, though. I had no idea that you couldn't buy them, so now I need to figure how to get them myself.

My guess is that you have a chance of receiving one of them as your free starter piece.

Nintendo said they come through Spotpass

I was confused when they said spotpass, but I ended up streetpassing someone that just got one randomly as their first piece, so maybe they meant that the first piece you receive is via spotpass, which means you either have to be lucky enough to get one as your first piece or streetpass people that have encountered such lucky people to get them.

Well, I've managed to get 2 of them so far by street pass from other users, but in one of those cases, I knew the other user and I'm pretty certain that they hadn't updated their system software (so it was basically a compatibility glitch with the data of user who didn't update yet).

When did they say that? I thought they always said Streetpass, which is indeed how you pass them along.

Never got SpotPass from this but it says so when loading the app after updating, there even is a Setting to switch it off, question is:
Has anyone actually recieved new content for this software through SpotPass?

i have the problem too i just have the dk country returns
in vacation i was in arizona and i met someone via streetpass who had some parts in the middle (purple)
by him there was no purple piece it was just normal
so i passed more and more and then i finished it
i think that the puzzles are now for different regions like mario kart 7 japanese
i dont know ...

I have out of the new puzzles,
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (24 piece puzzle)
Star Fox 64 3D (24 piece puzzle)
Super Mario 3D Land (40 piece puzzle)
and finally...
Donkey Kong Country Returns (24 piece puzzle)

I expect there to be more but what I thought was more interesting is that not all puzzles have the same amount of pieces to collect.

... oh and as far as the Super Mario 3D Land, I dont actually remember passing anybody with that and started with Donkey Kong.
Mabey then spotpass randomly or even through achievements, I dont know but I havnt recieved any notifications through spottpass about the puzzles but I deffinetly dont remember passing anybody with the Super Mario 3D Land puzzle... I dont even have that game. lol

Go to a convention. At Magfest we managed to get all but 3 pink pieces (Super Mario 3D Land). I expect to pick up those three at PAX East.

off on a wee bit of a tangent, but i have gotten 3 mii's thru street pass, then y'day got one thru 'invitation'? what's the difference?

The difference is that the invitation ones (ones you meet in other games, say Mario Kart when playing online) just fill your plaza, you can't use them for the games (Find Mii/Puzzle Swap).

I got one of them. I also belive that a lucky few recieved a pink piece as their starter and now Nintendo is relying on those few to spread the pieces out. I got one fromn someone who got it as their starter, now everyone who passes me gets it and passes it to everyone they then pass and so on.
