Topic: Some questions about Pokemon X and Y

I'm planning on getting either X or Y maybe after Christmas and I was wondering what people thought may be the better version. Thing is, I know I like Yveltal better than Xerneas just as a personal taste, but from what I've seen Xerneas is somewhat better (at least against Yveltal). Also, I like Mewtwo and Charizard's X mega evolutions better than the Y ones. Would it be possible to, say, get Y and then trade for Xerneas and the mega evolution items for Charizard and Mewtwo? Also, if you trade Yveltal for Xerneas, would you be able to get another Yveltal or is that it? Basically, what do you have to trade to get those items?

There is only one Xerneas in X and one Yveltal in Y, the only way to get another would be to delete the file and start again. Same goes for each megastone. Does that answer your question?

@ShadJV So would it be possible to delete the file after trading Yveltal for Xerneas, get another Yveltal and still have the Xerneas you traded for? Also, can you trade something other than Yveltal for Xerneas? I'd like to get both without having to buy both versions if that's possible.

Doesn't matter which verison. You can go with either x or y and trade it. Reseting the game does nothing but completely restart the game from the beginning.

You can trade with people online for the stones you want (Put your y ones for trade asking for x ones, etc..)

Sometimes trading other legendaries or shinies can give you multiple of the same legendary in the game. but as far as catching yveltal/xerneas yourself, you can only do it once.

I guess that could potentially work if you get a Pokebank subscription, upload your Xerneas to it, then restart the game from the beginning. You'd have to play through the whole game twice to do it, keep in mind. You can technically trade anything for Xeneas if you find someone who wants to do so, but likely it'd be something at least just as rare. It's theoretically possible use trading to get both legendaries while only buying one version, but unless you hack (which is frowned upon and hacked Pokemon can't be used online or in tournaments) it is otherwise quite difficult to get both, unless, like you said, you traded Yveltal for Xerneas and then played through the game all over again.

This is false. Most of the tournament players use pokegen and cybergadet to make competitive pokemon intime for the tournaments. They can be used online as long as their name isn't hoopa or volcanion and everything about them is legal. Unreleased items and abilities are a nono too.

Heck some tournament players were caught using hackmons in battle and nobody really cared except for hardcore antihack players.. (looking at ray rizzo's dream ball aegislash)

There are people who can clone yours though so be on the look out for people who may end up giving you something and you still getting to keep the original stone.

As in hacking?

It isn't particularly hacking consituring you can clone without an external device.
